It sounds like the ACO is still going to call it a Riley, though, which is complete nonsense given that it's being entirely re-homologated as a new car

I'm guessing Riley officially hold the "Franchise" they dolled out when they went to 4 manufacturers.

Wasn't the Nissan actually 4wd, but it was the always broken hybrid system that was supposed to drive the rears?

Apparently he wasn’t the slow hand in the car in qualy either. There was obviously quite a bit of talk about this during this week’s Midweek Motorsport podcast too.

He's really not bad, he did well in a few outings in British GT for Beechdean, sharing a car with the defending champion.

Doc Morbid posted:

In news that should surprise absolutely no one, Formula V8 3.5 (formerly World Series by Renault 3.5) is closing down after this weekend's season finale. The series never recovered from the loss of Renault's backing at the end of 2015, with grids regularly consisting of ten or so cars these past couple of years.

It's a shame. 3.5 used to be a pretty solid feeder series with some serious talent, but these last couple of years were just sad to watch and frankly I'm surprised they lasted this long.

It doesn't surprise me, a measure of how bad it was is the guy who just won on his debut out of nowhere has a CV consisting of "Karting" and "12th in Formula Renault Eurocup".

Assuming one were actively insane I don't think there's anything preventing a manufacturer doing a part season and entering that 2nd LeMans.

Although, I'm not sure why one would.

Feels Villeneuve posted:

After some rumors that he might be even out of a ride, Ogier is back with M-Sport next year in WRC.

Guessing that either Red Bull are bankrolling his seat again, or the rumors that M-Sport got Ogier to lure Ford back into the series as a proper factory team might actually happen.

There was some note about "With the backing of Ford Performance" so I think some sweetening of the pot has happened.

Yeah if I'd known the privateer contingent would be this interesting I'd have wished for Toyota leaving.

That's pretty fantastic quality too, probably because it might have come from ESPN itself and not a guy with a VCR.

Well that's awesome, if only for the stable funding.
