What's the max level for the hostesses? Also, one of my bronze hostess seems to do a lot better than some of my gold hostesses in the Jupiter area. Can any hostess upgrade their rank (bronze to silver or whatever) or are they stuck that way forever?

I really enjoy the disco minigame, it was difficult at first but the system made sense to me once I realized it's more about the steps and getting the correct button press at what feels like the last second. It also helps that Koi no Disco Queen is a great song. This is my best score on hard.

I'm sure a lot of people figured it out already, but the best way to get unlimited money is to exploit Mr. Shakedown once you have an encounter finder, the ability to buy zap guns, and a good amount of seed money (1 billion yen or so should do). I ended up with around 500 billion yen after doing this trick, which was plenty for maxing out my basic ability trees, buying all the properties, etc...

All you do is equip your encounter finder so you can see where Mr. Shakedown is, buy about 4-5 zap guns, intentionally lose to Mr. Shakedown once so he takes all your money, then go into a building and come back out. He'll have respawned so you can just find him again, then kill him with 1 or 2 zap guns. He usually just runs at you, so you dodge and fire close to him and it takes off 1/3 health bar each time.

Each time you kill him it gives you something like 1.5x of what you lost, I believe. Do this process like 10 times in a row without spending money and you'll have a ton of yen (and fulfill a couple CP challenges for beating him a bunch).

Thanks, I didn't realize this was a thing you could do. I was just farming him the normal way with zap guns on normal difficulty but this will be a big help on legend.

If you don't know who the last video is, you can talk to both Mr. Libidos and one of them will tell you who the last erotic video person is.

Majima's 4th style is also really good for dealing with Amon since the counter move has a really generous window, does alot of damage, and doesn't require any specific amount of heat meter. Just by quick stepping, you can get a tiny bit of meter and then keep countering Amon's second phase.

I've not played the older Yakuza games, but at least Kiryu's callback style is intuitive so has effectively replaced Brawler for me so far.

I will admit I'm pretty underwhelmed by Majima's ultimate style. An infinite durability knife with it's own set of special moves is sweet, but being at the far end of my base styles I'm more familiar with has just been so much better for me. "Okay, I could stab this random street encounter enemy god knows how many times with a KNIFE... Or I could one, two, three strikes you're out swing three fodder at once with Slugger".

I imagine that style gets far more impressive than the worst equippable knives once you've ground up enough CP and money to loop the ultimate grid a few times though. And it's super fun to just zip around stabbing everything. But I get way more mileage going back to what I know with the other styles for Majima.

My first big showing of Majima's style being bringing a knife to a Nishki fight probably did not help my initial opinions of it, either :v: "Man, he's so much better with knives than I am. Time to show them why rock beats scissors... Because bat's are blunt, and-gently caress it HOME RUN MOTHER FUCKER!"

Majima's Mad Dog style is best used for the 3 person heat takedown available at one heat bar or higher (despite the in game screen showing you need to be at the 3rd heat bar) and for the counter knife attack (R1 stance + triangle when enemy attacks) available at any amount of heat meter, which you can get just by quick stepping.

The Mad Dog counter attack does a stupid amount of damage. I only had to counter Nishitani about 4 or 5 times to end the fight even on legend difficulty. Kiryu's 's Dragon style has two different counters which are both great but the elbow counter is only available at the 3rd heat bar while the grab sweep counter (R1 + circle when enemy attacks) is available at any point. Both do a high amount of damage.

Brawler has a really good counter attack that does more damage the less heat you have so it's a good way to quickly build heat plus it seems to connect/hit more often than the dragon style elbow counter.

There doesn't appear to be any downsides to equipping brass knuckles for Kiryu's rush mode considering the move set stays the same, no rush heat actions are removed, and you gain the brass knuckle heat moves as well. I don't know if I'm nerfing Kiryu's damage by having him equip the Extra Sturdy Brass Knuckles but it looks cool.

I don't know if this is something that is explained in the game or what, but here's a useful tip for Majima's Thug style. You can quick step cancel out of his square x4 triangle combo (it's the straight lunging kick) which you can then follow up with a quick step blow attack assuming you went forward or another square combo or even a grab. This can lead to hilarious amounts of damage as you bounce an enemy, including bosses, off a wall.

The fights at the end of the business side stories really illustrate how bad the combat is in Yakuza games. I wish they'd go back and fix it some day. There's no excuse to be this lazy when there's years of Platinum games to look at.

Also I'm super annoyed the removed or nerfed all the counter skills until they're practically useless.

Yeah, I love Majima's secret style but that circle move seems entirely useless.

Kiryu has plenty of good counters, still. Two for his brawler, two for his secret style, a non damage counter for his rush, and if you want to stretch it, his beast style has some great counter (from a block stance) moves which do a lot of damage.

I feel like Majima is the one lacking in any decent counters (aside from his 3 bar thug grab counter and 2 bar only breaker style grab counter) until his secret stye but that counter does such a huge amount of damage that I don't mind.
