Pretty blue for a fly guy, or whatever the kids say these days.

A bug.

Some sorta weevil, maybe the large pine weevil (Hylobius abietis)?

A bumblebee! They're the best!

Scary and ticklish and awesome to have one on your finger.

Look at them hairy legs! :3: Gave it some agave syrup on my hand because it seemed a bit down, later it flew off merrily when I took it outside. But I forgot to take any photos for identification, this was probably the best one for the markings. Location: Finland.

Noticed only when looking at the photos: is that some sort of parasite on its shoulder? :ohdear:

Looks like Bombus pascuorum at a glance but I'm not very familiar with European species.

That's what I was leaning towards after a bit of research, so quite likely. Thanks for the other identifications as well, everyone!

I like bumble butts and I cannot lie.

A queen ant? Was really big.

A fly.

A hoverfly.

Looks like you found the infamous large pine weevil! Very pretty weevil imo but also considered a pest in forestry as it ring-barks spruce and pine seedlings en masse following clear cuts.

Thanks! The name sounded familiar and I noticed I had identified one myself last year, so I guess they're quite common here.

A green lacewing.

Some sort of solitary bee?

A basic bee.

A bee of the bumbling variety. Bombus terrestris or Bombus lucorum, I presume.

A beetle trying to look like a bee. Trichius fasciatus.

A green rose chafer (Cetonia aurata) hiding in a flower.

Long boi.

A green spider. Araniella cucurbitina?

An orb-weaver, I think, maybe Araneus diadematus.

A hoverfly.

A run-of-the-mill fly.

Tiny fren.

Silhouette.

Neat bee-mimicking beetle! Bee-tle?

Thanks, here's another pic with the back showing a bit better.

vaguely posted:

You got Araniella right for your green spider, but to go any further than that you need microscope ID - there's a couple of basically identical species which you can only tell apart by comparative hardcore spider pornography

Okay, maybe we'll just let them be unknown. I don't wanna bother them too much.

I think your hoverfly could be Volucella pellucens the pied hoverfly, a very smart looking boy :kimchi:

Cool, thanks! That one appears to be called "wasp guest" in Finnish, because it lays eggs inside a wasp nest so the larvae can feed on debris there. Nature's so weird and cool.
