Junichiro's older than Cotton was at this point, isn't he (and maybe Hank?)?

If King of the Hill came out today Hank losing the State Football Championship could be explained by Hank being unable to process 9/11.

If a narrow urethra doesn't disqualify you from the army, they would've had to make a lot of changes to make the series even happen.

Am I imagining things again or does he make some comment about how difficult it would be to piss in a foxhole due to his narrow urethra

One of the most beautiful thoughts that keeps popping up in my mind is the fact Peggy keeps a scrapbook documenting horrible, local tragedies. "Chess Club Massacre" Peggy: "tsk tsk... they could beat the Aggies but they couldn't beat that train."

Fishstick posted:I'd take a bullet for Bobby In hindsight they really let Cotton off easy for (according to the official record) accidentally burning down a church full of people. Like even if it was an accident that's still sufficient recklessness and property damage to qualify as third degree arson, that's a minimum 2 year sentence. Sure it's not the 100+ attempted murder charges he was facing initially, but it's not "let's hug it out" level stuff. Guess being old and a war hero and poo poo gave him a lot of leeway

I'm finally sitting down and watching the series beginning to end. In the middle of season two at the moment; there are some definite misses (boby being an overweight model?? don't do it son or you'll get picked on!!); but the writing over all is so incredible. The shooting episode where Hank is self conscious was so beautiful,, Hank was so worried of letting his son down but Bobby was so excited to get second place; absolutely made me tear up. Very excited to keep trekking with the series.

There's definitely a few duds that follow Hank owning the libs like the overweight modeling one, but the series shines hard with Hank trying to relate to Bobby (and vice versa) and when Peggy's crackpot schemes go awry.

It's a bit dated but I think the overweight modeling one is a pretty true to life parenting experience. There's a real dichotomy of love/acceptance/body positivity for your child that contrasts with the reality that teenage kids are loving cruel to each other and you want to protect them from it.

Hank's overbearing parenting comes out on top, occasionally. Him preventing Bobby from being part of that Christian Rock group is excellent, if only for the "you're not making Christianity any better, you're just making rock and roll worse!" line, alongside the heart to heart at the end of Hank showing the fads he was into as well.

IIRC it's the fads Bobby had been into over the years, though possibly also Hank's. Sweet in its own way that Hank keeps mementos of all that in their own box. More fun when Hank's way of doing things ends up being wrong, and even more when he and Bobby do manage to see eye to eye even if it's in a way neither of them expected.

It seems totally apocryphal but I have vague memories of jokes about rental VHSs having bad patch jobs at the naked parts because cheaper players would keep too much pressure on the film during a pause and snap it after enough hornballs paused it.
