Even setting aside my general love of the ACLU, my brother-in-law is a Pakistani Muslim. This horrorshow is not representative of my values or what I want for my country.

I used the straightforward donation link and my email from them stated "Download and print your temporary membership card (your permanent card will arrive in the mail soon if you are a new member)." I'm assuming based on that phrasing that if you donate it's considered an automatic membership.
