i was gonna make my own thread about it but let's assume bernie would have won its the year 2017 and the centrists haven't been even halfway loving humbled by a trump win and getting nuked into irrelevancy. what makes you think that bernie wouldn't have been obstructed by both sides of the aisle and then socialism be the whipping boy for all of society's ills for the next 4 years?

sanders would attempt to use the bully pulpit to shame congress into enacting progressive legislation there would be some hope that the bully pulpit tactic would be successful considering that sanders had the largest crowds during the campaigns and knew how to draw people in if they are obstructionist, sanders can still do a lot of good with the powers of the executive branch alone

Meanwhile, the kids who got so excited to go to his rallies are now primed to show up for the continuing work. The travel ban was a first test and I think the new left passed it.
