definitely a long shot but if anyone is in the I.E. even tho there isn't a local chapter on the site map (http://www.dsausa.org/chapters) there is a Facebook group with 220+ members (?!). Since there's no official chapter I'm assuming no one goes to meetings, but the leader of the Facebook page seems pretty active so I'll be going to the next one. I have the form to create a chapter from the national office, so it should be happening soon. Please show up!

Ace of Baes posted:Im an anarcho syndaclist but I know that the US will never directly transition from capitalism to anarcho syndaclist, so for me, and a lot of DSA members, the DSA is about taking direct action to counter capitalism and fight for workers and the impoverished, which unless you're accelerationist seems like the best action to take in our current govt/society.

Just went to my first Inland Empire DSA meeting. We had 12 people total, 3 were older ladies recruiting for the green party who were kinda dominating conversations which frustrated me, but whatever. Besides arguing we talked about a San Bernardino bank exit and made an official twitter. so some progress? lol https://twitter.com/InlandEmpireDSA

Internet Explorer posted:Just go, no courage necessary. I'm about as antisocial as they get and it was a great experience. the only courage you need is the courage necessary to drive into downtown San Bernardino at night it's really bad, guys But you should go. Me and another guy instantly bonded over Chapo Trap House and a really nice lady brought mac and cheese

I read a post that said their meeting was very well run. What makes for a well run meeting, in everyone's opinion?

yeah libertarian socialists are just anarchist socialists who started using the term "libertarian" before the recent association of the term with free markets. read homage to Catalonia, all the CNT-FAI who controlled Catalonia were considered libertarian socialist

update on inland empire: the guy who has been most involved ended up reaching out to national to start our organizing committee and we found out you need a diverse, committed, core of organizers to form it and we lost a lot of energy. The most committed members were all men, and I was the only Chicano. There are a lot of committed and passionate people in the I.E., but a lot are working with different groups and it's really hard to meet regularly when we're all spread out over a huge geographical area. I actually haven't been to a meeting in a long time because my work schedule changed and made it really inconvenient to drive to downtown San Bernardino, and then I also ended the longest relationship of my life and had to move out which was incredibly stressful. I've stayed in contact with everyone tho and another group of people trying to organize a riverside DSA reached out to me so that might turn into a new, separate thing. The guy trying to start the riverside OC says it's crazy to make one group for a huge area like the inland empire and I might agree. This probably doesn't matter to most people but I do remember there was at least one other goon in the area Also I'm going to the convention as an observer so if any goons wanna hang out hit me up. In this thread or @InlandEmpireDSA
