for St Louis people--there's organizing stuff going down on Weds at 7 pm. their new twitter (@stlouisdsa) has the details. it's on Cherokee St, so you can go out and get your drink on afters.

i'll be there, because the city that birthed Michael Harrington (hell, he and I went to the same high school--there's a little display about him in our library as a famous alum) deserves to do right by his memory.

(also in honor of @larrywebsite, i propose that any DSA gang-tag has the phrase "Trust The Process" in it.)

see, this is where STL DSA did it right:

meeting opens with a "thought for the day"
basic intro, what we're about, the Org Com talks about themselves, what they want, where they're coming from
open floor: what should we be focusing on?
breakout session: mid-sized groups based around a few common topics
breakout groups report back with findings, we all agree on certain things
close, announce next meeting time/date/location (though we're still working on the next location, as we're trying to broaden the horizons), we invite people to meet up and where to go for drinks afterwards
...and the only real issue we had was getting the projector/computer to work right to put up slides/documents (problem was: we had a bad cable)

that, and our Twitter posted a picture of the Little Red Book with Matt Carpenter replacing Chairman Mao (because we're not Maoists, we're Marpists, and if anyone tries that LOLOLOL DEADSPIN BFIBS poo poo on us you'll regret it). plus I'm working on getting a classic Lenin picture posted with Vladimir Tarasenko's face replacing V.I. Ulianov's, because we don't have an NBA team and thus are down the pecking order.

Well this is what happens when you write "I am a Socialist like FDR and Bernie Sanders" and "I agree with everything but being anticapitalist" you'll get really raked through the coals for that latter one.

Here are the two we endorsed
https://twitter.com/pghDSA/status/940425366346321922
There was one on the bubble, Michelle Boyle who was running for State Senate against this cop Republican incumbent and she had a lot of good things for her: being a nurse who unionized two hospitals, speaking out in favor of Medicare for All as a nurse, being relatable for blue collar working class families with her Irish Catholic union background. Problem with her is that she is again Catholic so she's mealymouthed on reproduction rights and for most in the chapter, especially in the SocFem committee, reproduction rights are non-negotiable even though she isn't all out pro-life.

Also John Fetterman is a giant bitch baby with an ego the size of Jupiter, I could believe the poo poo he was saying, though I'm worried he's probably going to take the shotgun he used to detain a black jogger and destroy our free pantry that he allowed for us to set up on land owned by him.

related to this: someone on Twitter recently pointed out that there seems to be some antipathy towards Catholics amongst DSA people (between the reproductive rights things and all the jokes about Irish and Italians) and honestly...I can kinda see it
