no more books posted:definitely a long shot but if anyone is in the I.E. even tho there isn't a local chapter on the site map (http://www.dsausa.org/chapters) there is a Facebook group with 220+ members (?!). Since there's no official chapter I'm assuming no one goes to meetings, but the leader of the Facebook page seems pretty active so I'll be going to the next one. I have the form to create a chapter from the national office, so it should be happening soon. Please show up! Out in the IE here too. Dipping my toe into the DSA waters but thanks for the FB link and I'll be putting up some cash soon.

no more books posted:Just went to my first Inland Empire DSA meeting. We had 12 people total, 3 were older ladies recruiting for the green party who were kinda dominating conversations which frustrated me, but whatever. Besides arguing we talked about a San Bernardino bank exit and made an official twitter. so some progress? lol Followed, maybe someday ill have enough courage to make it to a meeting

PostNouveau posted:Their site says their debt challenge is a request for a "chain of title" to prove that the debtor owns the debt, so I don't think it involves any statements of fact from the debtee. The OP of the debt collectors thread in BFC is a pretty good primer. Make the collectors show proof of debt ownership via certified letter, never talk over the phone, if they call and harass you or break the law in any way then you can sue them for damages of 10x of what is owned. These collectors buy debts for pennies and are shady as gently caress and just asking them to prove that you owe a debt gets them to back off in a surprising amount of cases. There’s quite a few goons in that thread who have gotten debts wiped or successfully sued for damages and won.

i'm actually pretty excited a clip like this is spreading so quickly the main thread on reddit where this was posted was pretty drat positive too. I only saw one guy saying "well, we don't know why they walked, maybe the business was being reasonable" and he was pretty much shouted down
