The show turns into Lord of the Flies in the most sudden and unexpected way soon after, and gets better and better from that point forward. It does have a few romance plots but their theme is definitely not teen drama It's a bait and switch in the best possible way. First episode makes it feel like your standard CW show with beautiful people but then it quickly switches over into a bleak post-apocalyptic atmosphere.
