I had forgotten that each character had an instrument associated with their character, so it was very nice to hear the songs again.

Yup, the remake on the GBA made the default team the one you mentioned.

The awesome FF1 strategy guide's party was Fighter, Monk, White Mage, Black Mage. Sounds a little familiar, right?

I always made Edea my "speedy physical type", so she started with Monk. It might have been because of those sweet metal armbands she has on reminded me of a martial artist from Kung-Fu Hustle.
