Hell yeah, a Bravely Default thread. I'm definitely gonna be following this thread, because this game is pretty good. Except when it's not, but even then it's still rad.

Agreed. I'm probably one of the few that liked Second more, but more on that topic when we get to that LP.

Hopefully there is a Bravely Second LP. :ohdear:

I hope getting all of the cutscenes doesn't wear you out, OP. It took me about six or so runs through the game to unlock all of then,m, and by that point I didn't even want to look at the game anymore.

Well now I'm imagining Barras wrestling the Ogre Bear from 4HoL.

Also, here are some of the best songs up to this point.

Also, someone should share the boss theme. I would, but my phone is a jerk.

The one of the few things I know about the demo is that it wasn't written by the writers of the game from all indication (unlike Bravely Second's), meaning the characters spoke very oddly and even acknowledged that they were in a game. I never played it, though, since BD was already out by the time I knew about it.

It's kinda like Final Fantasy III where switching to a new job is detrimental since your stats take a dive as a result. Though unlike Final Fantasy III, this is only true if you switch to a job that is low leveled or not leveled at all.

Bravely Second omitted that entirely, fortunately.

Tiz, Agnes, and Ringabel can all be Monks or White Mages right now, if that's what you mean. There's no limit to the number of people who can use a job.

I never read the Enigmatic Writings until I finished the game since I didn't want to be "spoiled". I feel like I missed out somehow.

Also, that last entry going from an optimistic plan by the writer to protect their family to a picture of a giant ominous shadow is really great at being unsettling.

The second dungeon theme is probably my favorite, though I do like Silence of the Woods a lot as well.

More games need to use Bravely Default's encounter rate modifier. I can think of a few games where, during the endgame, you're getting into a battle every five steps practically.

Alright, I'm home now. Before I post the themes, though, there's one thing I should note.

Greyarc posted:

Special moves are essentially limit breaks you can pull off after fulfilling certain requirements. Which requirement varies based on weapon. In addition to a big attack, the whole party gets a significant buff for a period of time. This period is marked by special music -- once the music stops, the buff ends as well.

The music that plays does denote the length of the buff, BUT if you activate another special attack and start up another character's theme, that resets the duration of the buff so that you don't lose it. I think it also increases your stats as well? Dr. Fetus probably knows more about it than I do.

There are no unique Limit Breaks per character; they all share the same ones, though the ones you use differ depending on weapons.

On the topic of Limit Break quotes, I set Edea's special attack quote to "Mrgrgr!" and her healing quote to something else that'll come up in a few chapters.

The classes I went with originally were

Tiz - Monk
Agnes - White Mage
Ringabel - Black Mage
Edea - Knight

Edea didn't seem like the punchy type and her opening scene did show her using a sword, so I figured the class fit her pretty well.

And Victor makes his appearance! He ended up being one of my favorite characters in the game, though a lot of the characters are pretty solid.

Also, whenever the guy there dressed like a robber baron speaks, imagine the most stereotypical snooty French voice you can and you probably have a good idea for the voice direction of his character.
