The Blues retired Bob Plager's #5 tonight, which was regarded by a lot of fans as a long-overdue gesture to a man who's been affiliated with the team in all manner of roles (player, coach, scout, media, front-office, you name it) since Game #1 back in '67. There was a big hour-long televised ceremony and all that, but the best thing was this: https://twitter.com/StLouisBlues/status/827331434415267840 Unbeknownst to anyone except the arena crew, they lowered the banner of Bob's brother Barclay (another early Blues legend who had his #8 retired after he died of cancer while a member of the Blues coaching staff) so the two brothers could have their numbers raised together.
