While more still shots than actual fluid animation, the content for this short seemed appropriate for these modern times. Funny how stuff from decades past still carries weight! quote:A parable about the consequences of being a bystander to evil, from a disturbing poem by Maurice Ogden, read by Herschel Bernardi. Shadows and shifting geometric planes lend a Chirico-like quality to Julian's animation. Great musical score by Serge Hovey. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRDq7aneXnk

Oh wow, yes, I will surely have to look that one up - very stunning! Love that you can just see the hard work that went into every single detail in that trailer, which means the actual piece must be rad as heck. (and you are most welcome! )

As we head deeper into the holiday season, what better way to kick things off than with a tale of greed. From 1968 comes an animated short directed by Charles Swenson starring Paul Frees, Agnes Moorehead, and Keenan Wynn called The Magic Pear Tree: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hemV2V51DYA There is not a wiki article for it, but there is a mini one for Swenson: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Swenson IMDB link for short: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063257/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 According to IMDB, this short was nominated for an Oscar.

I tried sniffing around the Wiki article for Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation - the closest thing I could think of is one that may prove to be the hardest to find. Around 1997, which would be Volume 4, there was a short listed under C. Miles Thompson called Stubbs (2:59), which I suspect could be the short you're hunting down. Spike and Mike Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spike_and_Mike%27s_Festival_of_Animation#Volume_1 IMDB listing for C. Miles Thompson: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1976683/ Considering that the director I am suspecting went on to do bigger and more kid friendly things, I wonder if he had that short yanked from the internet.

Thank you for that - and I can totally see where the SuperJail! animators might be hiding in that one short. Sorry I've been away (things got busy). Since we're now in the holiday season, what better way to kick things off than with something that is truly sick and twisted: Boba Fett cartoon - (The Star Wars Holiday Special, 1978): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsNwP_1kTZQ Weirdly enough, I sort of like this segment more than the rest of the cringe-fest that is the holiday special. List has been updated.

Great stuff! The ostriches were beautifully rendered, and The Shivering Truth looks really cool. I cannot afford cable, but if I could, I'd totally tune in for that. Both are on the list now.

I'll let the National Film Board description speak for itself:quote:In this animated short, Sleeping Betty is stuck in bed, victim to a strange bout of narcolepsy. The King calls on his subjects to rescue her and they all respond to the call: Uncle Henry VIII, Aunt Victoria, an oddly emotional alien, a funky witch and a handsome prince. But will a kiss really be enough to wake the sleeping princess? The film, drawn in ink, is a classic example of the anachronistic and playful world of Claude Cloutier. Telebite posted:This recently came up in my Recommendeds. Apparently this is the creation of one guy who has spent years on it, getting budget money for it from Kickstarter donations. He wants to make 10 - 15 episodes. So far he has 2. (The second episode was released about 4 years after the first.) Nicely done - and yeah, stop motion is one of the harder ones to pull off properly. Added to the list!

Oh totally - and I tend to double check anyway, since this thread is getting a bit up there in terms of age. This week is my birthday week, therefore I sought out anything from 1979. I found something, but have been running into dead ends regarding the backstory. It bears no Wikipedia page or IMDB page that I can find (if you can find one, please feel free to link it here!). It's my birthday! Looking around for more equally weird and old things, I found a trailer for something I'd never heard of before. From the description: quote:This candy coloured nightmare rocked audiences upon its release and catapulted maker Suzan Pitt to the front ranks of indie animation. Stunning cel animation propels its blank-faced protagonist into the world of the phallus, rendered here as a field of asparagus, which she deep throats, excretes and flushes away...The film's stunning set piece occurs before a claymation audience who gape as the artist opens her Medusa's box to release rare wonders. A moving meditation on art and the cost of reproduction, Asparagus remains, twenty-five years after its release, a benchmark of single frame intensity. With that in mind, here is a trailer for Suzan Pitt's Asparagus, which looks interesting! Linking because of content. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LLS_IB6GU0
