some animation stuff I find particularly unsettling is the primordial stages of computer animation, in shorts like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqMKy74HKXs

this was produced by Peter Foldes in the early 70s for the national film board of canada as a test of their newly researched tech, a computer program that could interpolate in-betweener motion. the film was made by only drawing every 12th frame and letting the program "smooth" it out, which is how you get this very gross, shifty aesthetic.

Lots of goodies in this thread, but this is a standout. Thanks for sharing.

I'm sure everyone has seen Malice in Wonderland, but if you haven't take out 4 minutes of time when you're not at work https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YSZkA7rbZuQ .

The free flowing animation reminds me of the Super Jail crew. Lots of 'bad acid trip' motifs.

Speaking of Adult Swim...

The Raggedy Ann & Andy movie was so weird - thanks for sharing that one! Another weird movie aimed at kids was The Adventures of Mark Twain (1985).

Lol yea, dude. Was definitely thinking about mentioning Superjail! in my post. Has the same grimey feel a lot of those 80s grossout/freakout animatons like Malice in Wonderland have. It's an awesome look, but I can only handle like one episode of Superjail at a time before needing a break from the brain numbing violence. Great show though.

I've never even watched Heavy Metal all the way through, but it's got that same just straight up sleazy feel to it. This is a cool scene that I remember coming across as a kid. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tDtbhApINuU
