I wish I had not watched any of those clips, they are like some bizarro version of the Simpsons I used to watch where you get your hand held through the jokes and clobbered with political propaganda.

I voted the tic tok one. They need some rule that you must maintain celebrity status for X number of years before being eligible to be on the show. That way awful flash in the pan celebrities like Ke$ha won't be able to ruin it.

Not sure, I got this name by posting in a "post here to have your username changed" thread. I thought it was from that PeeWee Herman movie.

That Stevie is such a wacky character. I liked the episode where he tries to kill Lorraine. Family Dad is great, but not as good as the Simpsons.

This is literally the worst piece of animation I have ever seen in my life and I have, unfortunately, seen a few episodes of Family Guy. Let's mash together the laziest Trump jokes possible, complete with a *~wacky~* Putin parody. I hope The Simpsons ends soon and whoever wrote that is murdered violently.

The Simpsons looks pretty bad in HD with digital animation too.

The first time I felt like it was insulting my intelligence was that Lisa turning vegetarian episode. I was like 8, but it managed to do it.
I tuned in once around 2010 and it was some episode about Kent Brockman losing his job and it just kinda sat there, then ended. I decided it wasn't worth returning to at that point. So yeah, that Homer Votes thing is the first I've seen in 7 years.

One time about ten years ago I watched a random episode and it was a Treehouse of Horror-style anthology episode about love and featured a segment where Homer and Marge are literally talking dogs from Disney's Lady and the Tramp. It was staggeringly boring and unwatchable. There was a musical number that gave me pangs of sympathy pain for every single voice actor involved

Lipstick Apathy
I don't think the "Homer Votes" clip is from an actual episode. They have done election year clips and other online shorts in the past that aren't part of regular episodes

In 08 they did a clip where Homer tries to vote for Obama but the rigged machine kept changing his vote to McCaine. Then there was a debate about whether it was pro- or anti-Obama that an oaf was depicted voting for him

The writers and actors hate it and consider it a mistake because it set the precedent for throwing established characters out the window to fit whatever zany plot they invent, but compared to those awful clips from the newer seasons it's a goddamn masterpiece.

There was someone on the show that I think really defending that episode, though.
From wiki:

"Ken Keeler, Bill Oakley, and Josh Weinstein all defend the episode in its DVD commentary. Keeler asserts, "I am very, very proud of the job I did on this episode. This is the best episode of television I feel I ever wrote."[25] He describes the episode as a commentary on "people who like things just the way they are", and remarks, "It never seems to have occurred to anyone that this episode is about the people who hate it." However, Keeler says that some of the dialogue was changed from his original draft, making this point less obvious.[26] Oakley and Weinstein explain that they wanted to push the boundaries of the series while working as show-runners, and advise viewers to treat "The Principal and the Pauper" as an "experiment". They surmise that the negative reception was partly due to the fact that it was not immediately apparent to viewers that this was such an episode (as opposed to, for example, "The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase").[27] They also describe the ending of the episode as an attempt to reset the continuity and allow fans to consider the episode as non-canonical, divorced from the larger series.[28]"

There was a video of car tires going down a hill that thinking of this clip reminds me of.

i think the first bad episode was the one where Lisa goes to the museum in season 9, it wasnt a terrible episode but probably the first one i can remember not liking

everything after season 11/12 has been puerile trash though, there have been maybe 3 or 4 good episodes between season 13 and 20.

Main page:
https://deadhomersociety.com/zombiesimpsons/

Explanation of Zombie Simpsons:
https://deadhomersociety.com/zombiesimpsons/zs1/

Basically explains how everything went so good and turned so terrible.

Edit: that explanation about the experimental nature of the "pauper" episode just being another one of the writers' non-canonical episodes makes a bit more sense. Had they not edited the script and made it more of a blatant fourth wall thing I think there a lot less hate for it. It was probably intended to be like the episode with Poochie. Lisa explains why tv shows start to add new characters to spice things up, and suddenly Roy shows up and everyone reacts like he'd always been a core character.

You're thinking of Dancin' Homer, which is a good episode. The episode that poster was describing appears to me Homer & Ned's Hail Mary Pass, which I have not seen/do not remember seeing.

If I described an episode as "the one where Bart falls in love with a girl who is even more of a little shithead than him", you'd be right to think I was referring to Bart's Girlfriend (the episode with Jessica Lovejoy), but Stealing First Base had basically the same vibe with a new character. This show needs to be put out to pasture.

Backweb posted:

I think it hit me particularly when I saw sideshow Bob after the episode where he reformed and helped the kids defeat his brother Cecil. The family went to Italy and Bob had family and a kid and they were focused on a vendetta or something. By that time I had stopped caring.

This was the episode that made me decide to stop watching for good. In a moment of weakness, I watched Stealing First Base on Hulu, but that was my only relapse.

the simpsons had to become what it did, because the writers refused to allow Bart/Lisa/Maggie to grow up. if it was going to continue with good episodes that are semi-grounded in reality they should have made Bart/Lisa teenagers in season 9. only way to get more family situations out of the same cast.

they tried to do this without aging the kids, but its just terrible. how many romantic partners have Bart and Lisa had by now? thats some experienced 10 year old!

you haven't seen the episode and yet you can recognise a description of it and refer to it matter-of-factly by title? do you spend your time reading and memorising synopses of Simpsons episodes so you can appear knowledgeable about them in gbs?
