A bit surprised nobody's posted Phelous yet. He started out doing horror movie stuff https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpp2AmlftrI More recently, he's focused primarily on bootleg toys and lovely cartoons https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90JhVbzLVTk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMXU58bnH-Y Regular Car Reviews showcases the cars normal people drove/drive, covering their history and cultural perception. Also lots of weird jokes and English major references. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZF2lRNqd-LI I also like the 8-Bit Guy. He focuses on computers and consoles from the 80s-00s, with a mix of reviews, "how this stuff works," and some restoration process videos. Fairly dry, but pretty interesting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esQNEvcHVuM He has a side channel focused on reviewing and restoring old keyboards https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJmhM3-uq4Y

AriadneThread posted:is it off topic if we talk about video people who don't do reviews? because i watch way more of that Yeah, unfortunately it seems like youtube in general caters to shallow stuff. I really wish there were more in-depth videos, since the multimedia approach can be a really great way to learn stuff, but I can't argue the effort-to-payoff ratio. quote:wasn't there something about research showing the dumb youtuber thing of having their face in the corner doing over-the-top reactions was actually really effective at getting views? i think i heard that from a lindsey ellis video or tweet or something but i'm not sure Don't have a link, but I saw the same thing. Annoying, but if it gets people more views, I'm not going to make a stink over it. :/

I'd call it a review of the human hand, anyway.
