breaklaw posted:That still wouldn't be enough to pay for Bernie's plans, and once you raise the rate over a certain point you actually start losing revenue. Look at what happened in France with Hollande's 75% tax bracket. He believed in it until it was proven to him to be counter-productive. rofl our highest tax rate ever was like 92% and it benefited us immensely you loving doofus

breaklaw posted:And then what do you do once that's money is all spent? how do you keep the system funded for the future? You have to have recurring revenue, in this case recurring tax revenue, and you seriously think people being taxed at 100% are going to keep producing at the same level? Do you? Why? cuba has a universal health care system they have a lower infant mortality rate and a lower rate of death for people between 15 and 65 than the us they have more doctors per capita than the us all this in a country that spends 185 per capita on healthcare just lmfao that you are this loving dense

our healthcare system is so poo poo that it pales in comparison to a lovely dictatorial 3rd world caribbean nation but "we can't afford it", says the loving dumbass who buys into idiotic talking points parroted by people desperate to hold on to their money at the expense of human lives

we spend more money on healthcare per year than every single nation on eath who has universal health care i mean gently caress we wouldn't even need to raise taxes on the rich with those kinds of numbers to make uhc work. we spend that much because it is for-profit and we have no controls on pricing, we'd almost certainly be spending far less per capita with a uhc system, just like every other nation on earth who has one.
