Microloans are good because they grow local businesses and make the local economy more robust as opposed to a foreign aid org coming in and dumping a bunch of free food/supplies that put all the local businesses out of business and create a cycle of dependence on external aid.

if microloans=midichlorians and i learned from recently watching a youtube documentary series, that midichlorians=heroin. then yeah i agree with the op. If african nations started producing and exporting heroin to the USA it would be a serious boon to their economies.

when I was younger I got a payday loan and then had to spend the next 5 paychecks trying to catch up, trapped in that horrible cycle so no, please spare africa that indignity. That continent basically belongs to China anyways. They've bought it, so it's their problem now.

I thought Microloans fail constantly because people without money (surprise!) don't have money to pay the loans back and just end up in debt? Wouldn't it be better to buy goats or houses or wells with clean water for people living in poverty?

I vaguely remember some terrible webcomic where a libertarian gets superpowers or something and starts loving up states and corporations and encourages people to offer microloans as their replacement. So I'm going to say microloans bad, superpowers good.
