Paper again. All too often I find RPS players falling into the trap of "Hulk Always Throw Rock"; as AJ says, they'll overthink it and stick with Rock. Rock feels stronger, and they will need that feeling of strength and the reassurance it brings now that they're down 1-0.

I find myself convinced by some of the arguments made in-thread, and am changing my vote from Paper to Rock. (this is also a check to see if vote-changing is permitted.)

Paper. They won't change! They are too set in their ways!

So far Team Right's pattern is to change after ties to the thing that would have won their last match. (yes, it's an exceedingly small sample size, shut up) So if they follow this pattern they'll throw Scissors next so we should throw Rock.

It's time for scissors. They'll think they know our pattern, so it's time to break it.

Also, just saying, if we go scissors and they finally manage to pull out a win it will only solidify the "scissors is a loser move" thought in their heads. So they'll consider the game down to only rock and paper, throw paper, and then we can throw scissors for the win.

If they switch away from rock, they'll throw either paper or scissors - so a throw of scissors means that in the worst case, we tie again.

I am impressed; they stuck with rock. I didn't think they would. Still voting scissors.

oldskool posted:I'm tempted to change but I can't honestly say I believe in "They won't go rock again" when they've already gone rock four times in a row. If they go rock again then a throw of rock is a tie. Tie becomes our worst-case scenario. Switch to rock, oldskool.

oldskool posted:If they go rock again paper wins us the game. They have to change from rock (which they are clearly hesitant to do) to scissors (which they are somehow even less likely to do) in order for paper to lose, and while that blows our 3-0 lead it doesn't end the game and puts it all on the final throw, which I like our odds in based on our previous logic vs. simply not betting they'd get lazy & throw four rocks in a row. See, I get your logic, but it flies in the face of the fact that we got lazy and threw rock five times in a row, and it worked out pretty okay for us. I have no troubles imagining them going "throwing rock worked for them, why not for us?" E: basically what I'm saying here is "trusting in rock has worked so far let us trust in rock." I was one of the early adopters of Scissormania, but it failed us. Rock has kept us safe. DivineCoffeeBinge fucked around with this message at 04:14 on Feb 28, 2017 |

I am shaking my head sadly. We should have won right there. Ah well. I'll be generous and forgive you all if we win this round with Paper.

Cooperate. Five turns ago I'd've said we were the game's only true winners, but Team Right came back and made a game of it, and they deserve props for that. We can stand united in saying "gently caress you, nine-gear crow."
