Fallout 4 has the most grating crafting system and I have no clue why they decided to spend so much effort on base-building which, as far as I know, has never been a staple of the Fallout series.

I have heard 2 conspiracy theories about why they focused on base-building and I find a lot of truth in both of them.

Its a pretty good game overall but they butchered the skill and attribute system. Everything is just perks now.

I used to be PC master race but after a bunch of companies started outsourcing their ports to people who don't give a gently caress the games are just poo poo now, recent games that were horrible ports were Just Cause 3, Mortal Kombat X, Batman: Arkham knight, Disgaea, and Tales of Symphonia.

Here's the short version from what I remember:

You play as Elizabeth, in what is presumably the primary rapture timeline from Bioshock 1. In Burial at Sea 1, Elizabeth kills the Booker who lives in rapture because of him trying to use a furnace of some kind to flush out a little sister of the vents (?). She becomes disgusted with him and kills him, and then here's where things get stupid. She gives up her multiverse godhood powers to protect this one, singular little sister. Presumably because she felt bad about using the sister in her plot to determine if the rapture Booker was a jerk or not. So instead of, I don't know, using her powers to prevent rapture from being created or at least doing something at a macro level to make the lives of the little sisters better, she gives it all up for this one individual.

From there the actual game begins, and it's essentially a slow motion suicide all the way through. She loses all semblance of sanity, and imagines a Booker to save her and keep her moving forward, and yet she gradually becomes more unhinged and fatalistic. She goes around doing Bioshock things for a while, and eventually she comes face to face with Atlas, who tortures her in an absolutely disgusting first person torture porn scene where he uses an icepick type thing to almost give her brain damage.

Some time later, Atlas needs her for a mission to a specific area, which he says his people can't get to because of "gene-locked turrets" of some kind, which they did not even bother to model in the actual level. Elizabeth talks to Suchong or something, and then allows herself to be killed, with I believe the same little sister in the room she gave up her powers to protect. Lo-and behold, some short death speech later, it's revealed that she did all this to set the events of Bioshock 1 in motion.

So in short:
Elizabeth gives up her powers for a dumb reason
Elizabeth is robbed of what little agency she had
Elizabeth is fridged for the benefit of the Bioshock 1 story

I'm probably forgetting a lot of stuff, but I'm convinced the only people who genuinely liked the story either are torture fetishists or people who straight up hate women. It's such a tremendous clusterfuck especially reading it from a feminist perspective, I'd almost recommend watching the story chunks of it for a laugh, were it not for the pointless torture scenes.

Seriously, there is something very wrong with the brain of whoever wrote this story, they should be on some sort of government watch list.
