We had the Sunshine Skyway Bridge collapse back in 1980, I remember as a kid when it happened being horrified and then freaking out every time we drove over it after that. Driving right by on the northbound turned north/south span and seeing the gap knowing that a bunch of people fell and died right there was spooky as hell. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunshine_Skyway_Bridge#1980_collapse The bridge was rebuilt and is pretty cool now, I once got a flat at the very top at night and it was unnerving to say the least.
