It probably has to do with cost of creating the whole cast of characters in 3D and the environments and then rendering those scenes in time is easier with the low-poly models they use in the show right now. 3D is still really, really hard.

I once had to do this and worked with a guy who could only do this job and sometimes he messed up and set production back a day. He was not allowed near the big machines and I feel sorry for him.

I was still struggling with post-trauma syndrome from being assaulted and it was being used to determine my capability to work, I quickly moved on to eventually run their IT department, but it was an bit of a few months where slacking off was the MO of everyone else, but this guy just sat with his nuts and bolts and put them into bags.

I started watching this because I was on Eri Natsume's stream and asked if she had any anime she'd recommend and instead of getting the answer I expected, she said Kemono Friends, which wasn't on my radar as a show to watch until then.

I saw the first episode and thought "oh, I guess this is like meant for toddlers?" but I decided to just grit through it and it surprised me. It's still meant for children though, just not the usual fare.
