Rochfale Tunnel isn't actually an interesting cave. Sorry for the cliffhanger.

By the way, this is the third trainer in a row to use a Dearewl.

I replaced the trainer battle music again.

OFSelects: Daft Punk: Aerodynamic

Finally, a Modrille to call our own. The person who named this wanted to call him Conehead but accidentally typed Comehead. I went with that because, actually, this Modrille's job is to gently caress.

I also replaced the wild Pokemon music too.

OFSelects: T. Rex: Thunderwing

Thank goodness, a trainer who decides to say fewer words rather than more!

Gligar are here too. They're unchanged from the official games, so they're still resilient punks with good typing and a really broad movepool, though lacking a ground move without TMs hurts their immediate prospects.

PU-Beachdesert.ogg

This does raise an interesting question. Is Route 7 a beach, a desert, or a both?

There's a rest house near the entrance that has the Pokemon center functions about which we care.

This is nice, because every sand tile can have random encounters.

A coconut crab!

Heh heh heh.

OH MY GOD

Buttplug's leveling off of the Exp. Share. Cubblfly learns both of these moves at the same level. Both are powders and are nullified by grass-types, but Buttplug's a bug so it'll work out. I hope.

I have a full set of evolution stones from the photographer, but I feel like saying, hey, look at this.

Chekov's stone.

Imagine six other NPCs say this with varying levels of creepy. That's what we're told about Cali, Bealbeach's gym leader.

Corsola shows up to disappoint even in fan games...

This trainer is unusual in that he asks politely.

Behind him is the fighting-boosting hold item. My Fursona needed something to hold up his distressed blue jeans.

Li'l snail. The sandcastle on its back is sort of a suggestion at this point, but don't worry, it'll evolve.

It's not every day you can click an image in this LP, so go for it this time!

Route 7 is kinda sprawling and the constant random encounters, though not dangerous, can be disorienting. This bridge is the sign you're on the right track because...

Theo shows up!

Theo has a PST too, this is relevant! (jk it never comes up)

Of course since we're rivals we must battle.

I changed Theo's battle music too, since, well, I'm not using any horses at the moment.

OFSelects: Weatherbox: Pagan Baby

He has this baby grass bird thing? It's fast with good special attack but its move list hasn't gone anywhere yet. Being pure-grass, Dumbledore wrecks it and drinks its vital fluids.

She sorta curbstomps Theo's team in general. The advantages of being fully evolved, I guess.

Theo barely holds back his tears before resolving to beat the next gym before Dick Solomon.

Oh HELL yeah, the other reason I evolved Dumbledore so early is that Vilucard learns this at level 25. Our first singature move (only Minyan and Vilucard learn it) and our first move created for Uranium, it's Giga Drain but physical and dark, and it is gonna be Dumbledore's bread and butter forever. With Blood Lust it has an effective 2/3 drain, giving her resilience beyond what her lovely defenses imply.

Mini-cave!

It has grass with the exact same encounters as outside, and a free PP Up.

Weather effects are weird in that it's usually not worth the time to use a move for them, but abilities that automatically cause them are incredibly, incredibly powerful. Chalk it up to opportunity cost and momentum.

Harsh sunlight primarily weakens water but boosts fire moves. It activates the abilities Chlorophyll (doubles speed) and Leaf Guard (immunity to status effects) and alters a whole host of moves we've not seen.

You like this gag of a pair of trainers breaking up because they lost? It repeats two more times.

Oddly enough, the line between Route 7 and Bealbeach City is here.

PU-Bealbeach_City.ogg

It's a remix of Lilycove City from Ruby & Sapphire. But with this instrumentation it sounds like The Always Sunny in Philadelphia theme song.

It has a casino. The offical games may have disavowed gambling but it'll live on in fan games!

This guy sells something new for Uranium. It has the HP recovery of a Super Potion and the status restoration of a Full Heal, all in one!

It's also an evolution item for one thing.

Bealbeach is mostly skyscrapers with a beachfront that forgot to have anything fun to do without Surf.

It's the BIG WINNER of our WHERE THE gently caress IS THE POKEMON CENTER CONTEST by being in the back corner and nowhere near any mandatory location or interesting set piece! It is entirely possible to visit every other location of interest in Bealbach without even seeing it!

Remember what I said about Davern having a Cave theme? Cali has a Beach theme, which probably means the ground-types we saw on route 7 are gonna be her pals.

DID YOU LIKE CREEPIN ON WEOMN WE GOTTS IT A BUCNH HEAR IN BALLBACH

This is the location of progress, where we walk in, tell dad he sucks, then get cancer from radiation poisoning.

DID YOU KNOW

AT THE BEACH?

facts like tehse are available at the bullblech tourism center

This lady gives us a mystery egg. For some reason Uranium lets us see the typing of the baby in the egg. This one is Grass/Electric. Mysterious!

Anyway, here's the den of vice and sin.

There's an ID lottery here, where the lady must be a demon from hell because her text is red. She pulls a number, and if any of the numbers match any of the numbers of original trainer IDs of any of our Pokemon, including ones in boxes, we get something! It's once per day, and the top prize if there's a perfect match is a Master Ball, that straight up skips checks and calling the RNG and catches without fail.

I'm spelling it out now because unlike all the other traditions it mindlessly recreates, Uranium does not give the player a Master Ball at any point.

DID YOU KNOW

these facts and mroe at the billbitch turtlism cneter

This is the guard's justification for letting a 13-year-old youth gamble.

We can spend money to get coins, but that's lame.

There are various Pokemon as prizes, but we've seen 4 of them. The 5th though... for nearly 10k coins (cash value of 199,980 rubles)... what is it?

Also a mega stone, a mysterious object (that still has a cash value of 180,000 euros), and a bad TM. Third lady has some hold items.

...Uh huh.

This guy is on a hot streak, so he gives us $2000 worth of coins for free.

There's of course slot machines. But they're video game slot machines in that they aren't reliable for winning big and you kinda have to save scum.

There's also voltorb flip, a weird minesweeper-type thing where the numbers on each row and column tell you the total number of points but also the number of mines.

It's actually a fairly solved game, and there exist online utilities to work it out for you from the numbers and a few low-risk flips. Which means it's easy to make thousands and thousands of coins.

Which I do.

So I grab the mega stone and a few items. And a Tracton. What's a Traction?

Huge attack, reasonably fast, and decent enough defenses given steel/dragon resistances.

Except wait a minute. Speed Boost boosts its speed by one stage every turn, so its good speed becomes unassailable with due haste. Ah, those are its level-up moves down there. What's up with those?

Shift Gear, +2 speed and +1 attack. A better Dragon Dance. gently caress. So it doesn't need speed boost to become unreasonably fast unreasonably fast. Iron Head and Dragon Claw are all the STABs it needs.

That's not even counting what it gets from TMs and move tutors, which is about like 8 types worth of coverage, which you barely need. Only two types resist dragon and Iron Head dunks on one of those.

This store has everything! Including things you didn't actually want like hard stones!

Well I joke but every modern Pokemon game seems to have a mechanic that loads me the gently caress up with Hard Stones so load me the gently caress up, Uranium.

On the top floor is a rotating stock of even specialer items. Like what?

Ethers, mega stones for starters, you know, normal stuff.

It changes every day, so I guess I'll have to check back.

TM store has a lot of things that cost way too much!

These are all high-power, low accuracy, low PP super-moves. While they aren't always the best - and lord knows I'd rather have Ice Beam than Blizzard - they help round out coverage and give incredible burst damage.

And this is a capturing utility.

With this I don't really need Blants around. And I guess because Blants actually sucks.

Oh yeah, Lotadio is female in this shot. My save got deleted by events due to circumstances, so I had to ruuuuuuuush back to now. Everything that matters is the same, just Gutterball is now herculean - I leveled her to the 60s so I could speed through the game - and Lotadio is female.

It also led to this or something.

We're now Bamb'o's baby daddy.

Did you know Uranium gave Corsola an evolution?

Did you know it still sucks? They forgot to actually give it good stats!

Deeznuts is in its second form for, like, five seconds. It's the thing that evolves with Coconut Milk.

He's went from a single coconut to an entire island!

You don't get to talk about things being broken! :argh:

Since I never steal anything with it, all I really accomplish is making My Fursona's moveset worse with this TM.

From Bamb'o's egg is a tiny unicorn. It has HERO and DARK evolutions depending on the stone used.

Oh, right, he is here, isn't he?

Dad is kinda bad at small talk but he tries.

PU-RangerTheme.Ogg

I believe that's Looker's theme from the official games. Notice how it's 29 seconds long? It loops way too fast and I'm extremely sick of it.

These people communicate with letters a lot, in a setting in which Dick Solomon can digitally transmit an entire unicorn.

They're rebuilding at the spot where his wife disappeared ten years ago.

So of course we're sending a letter. OK this one is a bit more explicable since it involves Dick Solomon being at the site hi-

Yeah

At Route 7 there's a salty guy at a boat.

PU-Nuclear Plant.ogg

Cameron blabs on and on about something or other. It's also raining all the time here, which made this gif hell to compress. I decided gently caress visual clarity.

The wild Pokemon here are STRANGE and DANGEROUS so Theo's sent back to the mainland. Dick Solomon has business... looking at the place his mom died?

This whole plan is strange.

You're stuck on the island until you're done with events (Uranium is really bad about making you stuck until you're done) but there's a guy who sells some stuff.

And a healing lady.

Uranium introduced it's own berry, but forgot to make its name some sort of jumble of an actual fruit's name.

Well actually despite being some sort of terrifying mutant Quick Balls work perfectly fine. As form changes they have normal catch rates and everything.

He is new radioactive isatop! We must observe with hasty.

Nuclear-form Pokemon have their primary type replaced with the Nuclear type. It's new for Uranium (obv.) and it's really weird. Nuclear-type Pokemon are weak to everything but poison and other Nuclear attacks. In this rain, Lotadio can plow through them with ease.

I try for silly things with my nuclear folks' names.

As a counterpoint to their defensive frailty, Nuclear moves are super-effective against all types but Nuclear and Steel. So Gamma Ray's low power is offset by how likely it is to be super-effective.

There are trainers. They have nothing special. Uranium calls scientists super scientists. Not sure why. That's the HG/SS sprite. I use it as my avatar on Pokemon Showdown, because mad science is my life.

Would nuclear meltdown shatter only parts of windows?

No one's managed to find any hint of what happened despite searches. Maybe this child could uncover something from basically the heart of Chernobyl, merely 10 years after the fact, with no protective equipment.

It's okay because we've got a beeping thing and I guess it beeps if Dick Solomon becomes a super mutant.

There are a bunch of stray damaged notes inside. 92 is uranium's atomic number, by the way.

Oh here's a book to put them in.

Random encounters continue inside. They're no issue if you're faster. Nuclear Pokemon are weak to everything but poison and nuclear - even normal.

This was a power plant. Why are their notes about specimens and brainwaves?

Well, if nothing else, I know power cores are bad news.

Hey, a key. Let's gently caress with things for no reason.

The Specimen with the Power Core was under control. Good news!(?)

CANCEL THE WORLD TOUR SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED

There's a stasis tank.

It is impossible to progress without opening it.

I think there's a trope or two for this.

We're dropped into a room with this very friendly guy.

Trawpint is Costraw's evolved form, though being nuked has changed a few things. Like a cute li'l nuclear symbol on his tummy.

Quick Balls still work.

And then Dick Solomon passes out from radiation poisoning, a thing that totally happens (it doesn't happen according to my sources.)

I nearly died from rdiation and how you greet me is awkward inclusions of fandom garbage?!

I guess I'm gonna have to tell dad he ain't having grandkids.

The notes are mysterious and there are no conclusions. Anything about unlocking a stasis tank is conveniently forgotten.

Man, I'd gladly whip a electrode into behaving.

The uranium will show up soon so the plant will soon be operational, despite sharing an island with hollow-eyed monsters. Yay?!

Cameron offers exposition on things we already know and have been told several times.

But on the plus side, having found highly obvious pieces of paper and pushed a button, we're now allowed to leave. We can never return, because Uranium is fond of that too.

Nukie may seem like an abomination, but she's actually pretty rad.

Somewhere in there, Buttplug finally hits level 24 from the EXP Share and evolves into her final form. To my chagrin, she no longer resembles a buttplug.

Dragon Claw is a high-power physical Dragon move with no added effects. It's MEGAWEAPON's bread and butter. It will never leave his first move slot.

Leaf Blade is a real serious physical grass move, at least.

Anyway we take a luxury cruise to escape a nuclear disaster. It's a boat ride in a Pokemon game which means we fight trainers.

OH MY GOD WHY IS THE SUN SO BRIGHT

I try to replace it with heavy rainfall but this Palij is determined to have the screen glow harshly at me.

Uh

well

Oh yeah Snail Time is a Sableau now and is hanging around with us for the time being. Lotadio has cheesed two gyms and underwent a sex change, I think she can retire peacefully.

Theo's here too.

He's fairly concerned about the nuclear plant exploding.

Especially since Cameron, his father, was on the island.

Nothing like a fight to get your mind off of your possibly dead dad.

His Cubblfly's evolved too. Buttplug kisses Baaschafs to death with 0 effort so... I'm pretty sure My Fursona will get wrecked.

His grass thing is now it's middle stage. It flies. It's still weak to Poison Fang.

...What the gently caress

Well he still has his unevolved Minyan and his starter, but!

It's evolved into Archilles! It's fast as piss and no slouch offensively!

With this and Magnitude it has some really mean moves under its belt.

But Snail Time can one-shot it with Water Pulse.

Theo's having a moment. We leave him be.

That was the cruise. It's no real big event but it's weird to escape a nuclear disaster by luxury cruise.

PU-Route 8.ogg

If it's familiar it's because this is from Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.

This route is a peaceful wheat field. The music lends it almost too much calm.

The game is not subtle about how hosed it's going to be soon.

There's a house with a free heal and a PC, thankfully.

It is hours with how bad this game's fishing mechanics are! *laugh track that melts into braying donkeys*

We get a new rod out of it though. This gates, like, nothing, since most of the waterways we've already seen will give us Forelogs and higher level Magikarp.

And this guy isn't available in any previous route.

For all the water-types I do end up using, this is almost quaint. An early stone evolution might make it worth it to you, if playing Uranium were "worth it".

Cornn berries have no direct function and exist exclusively to be cooked into things that increase contest stats. Uranium has nothing of the sort, rendering them pointless.

Route 8's grasses have Missy-D.

While they do get Hex at level 23, Misdreavus really wants Shadow Ball and it doesn't get it until level 41, and the TM is located at the point it should be level 41 anyway. A Mismagius without Shadow Ball is like a Medusa Head without a sine-wave flight path; just a decapitated head, you know?

Cottonee is here too. You already have the Giga Drain TM so pop that baby and evolve this stupid thing into Saci, if you want to. Prankster Stun Spore works as well here as it ever has (which is rather well).

Zapmander went from coughing bulb-butt dog to Guile hippocamp!

Electruxo is hardcore as gently caress. It's resilient as gently caress with 95/95/105 defenses, and its other stats are solid enough. Water/Electric is really good typing to have, too.

You may be asking why I stopped using him until he hit level 27, well, that's because he evolved at level 27. The Tandor starters only have one evolution, and they're supposed to make up for it by having Mega Evolutions down the line. What it does in practice is that Zapmander got really lame for a bit there then he went home became a family man and is now a huge badass.

The AI won't do what real players would and switch to a flying-type, so Dig is a pretty decent move for in-game. High power Ground moves are some things' job.

Tancoon's evolved form Tanscure is the official filler for npc trainers across the region. Thankfully it gives a real EXP reward.

Oh, hey, you're an infrequent random encounter here.

I refused to accept Righty.

Oh poo poo. Put on your fedoras, we're going there.

Well, we aren't, actually, it's just going to tiptoe awkwardly around this for no clear reason.

PU-VinovilleTown.ogg

This is a remix of Pallet Town. That's what you do with the place with the 4th gym, right? Homage starting towns?

Better than the 5th at least. Hoo boy.

It's "religious" in that NPCs speak like this, which sounds more like a cult, but that'd, like, make all this poo poo have a point.

The Pokemon Center is all the way in this corner, safely nestled away from things that would cause progress.

This game worked with 4th generation TMs but uses 6th generation mechanics, meaning Bullet Seed went from a lovely starting move to a legitimate physical grass move. Its average power is a hair below 80.

Between that and Dig, Deeznuts has those high-power physical STABs its been missing. Cocancer, statistically, is a brick shithouse. 90/120/115 defenses almost make you forget how bad grass/ground is defensively, 95 attack works well enough, and its speed and special attack blow.

Also it has special Halloween event sprites.

Back on route 8 is this lady.

Her name is Ripley because reference. What kind of reference?

Why, alie-

I was getting to that.

Anyway we're gonna help this lady with aliens because she has trouble keeping watch all night.

You can't get in the line of sight of one of the li'l aliens. This is clearly what you should do when making RPG Maker XP straaaaaaain at being a Pokemon game.

It's not long or difficult, it's just... why.

Oh yeah, Boss Alien.

Unlike previous minibosses, this one is straight immune to capture. Steel/Psychic with Levitate pretty hard for most things to crack, but I have a secret weapon.

Dumbledore is immune to its psychic attacks and manages to land a burn with Fire Blast, and can sorta tank it with Drain Life anyway.

Afterwards, we reveal the culprit:

A nerd?!?!

OH gently caress WE JUST GOT BAZINGA'D

Sheldon is bored out of his mind as he's a turbo-nerd in a farming community because [???].

He's also the gym leader, so we're gonna have to big bang his theories.

Or something.

She just said "sigh".

At least she has one of the little aliens for us because... uh...

There's no chance to save between the S51-A and this, by the way. Uranium is usually better about this.

We bazoople the alien into the team.

Uuuuuunfortunately we're reaching the point where I slather on thick layers of bullshit so a mere defensively-gifted goober with a late evolution and no good STAB moves isn't gonna cut it.

Transition shot.

This is a reference to Village Bridge, a town in Black/White and their sequels that has a very simple background track at base but talking to certain NPCs adds more layers to the music.

It's far, far better than anything Uranium has in it.

Seriously this is kind of intense.

Why are these people only saying, like, incantations.

Is there a technical term for this, can any bishops comment (only bishops allowed)

There's a church and it has books, because the best way to worldbuild is text dumps a mile away from anything the text is about.

tl;dr my original characters blonic and blails, but w/r/t heatran

tl;dr our yin-yang pair of legendaries are kinda literal compared to Reshiram and Zekrom.

Surprise! There's two other text dumps! Because both tiles of each bookcase has its own!

tl;dr there's an rear end in a top hat glowing in the bottom of the ocean

tl;dr our literal yin-yang created the universe

By the way, of the five legendary Pokemon in this, only two are actually fully implemented. The rest exist in the data but are in incomplete states.

Anyway, that's enough MYTH and WORLDBUILDING delivered via textwalls. Let's go bazinga some theories.

S-51A is one of Sheldon's Pokemon. The other ones are just wild little S-51 that followed it I guess because it's big and imposing.

It ends up grass/steel so I'm betting that was done as an attempt to balance it out a little bit.

Metalynx is kinda like Ferrothorn, if it traded its ability and a bit of its buffness for instant recovery and better offensive presence.

Ferrothorn is not quite the sort of design you look to when making a starter. A lot of its assets don't quite work for a storyline run.

Specifically, Zapmander fell off at the exact point official starters would be evolving, when levels hit the teens.

That sounds amazing in competitive, and awful in storyline.

I looked back at this, and Metalynx lacks entry hazards and Thunder Wave, and Leaf Blade/Meteor Mash are more reliable than Power Whip/Gyro Ball but Ferrothorn wins on raw oomph there. I had forgotten Ferrothorn's base attack is as high as it is.

Synthesis is a big change though, and while it doesn't hit as hard with its STABs, access to Earthquake does let it do something about fires and steels whereas Ferrothorn is completely at their mercy. I could see it as an alternative to Ferrothron for a team that has its entry hazards elsewhere. It could take a bit of heat for Nihilego, since it resists 3 of Nihilego's weaknesses and Nihilego is really good at making Charizard die, for example.

Mega Evolution is useless, though.

E: I have to consider Uranium's new pokemon as they apply to competitive play in isolation, as though they're one thing being injected, instead of the whole dex being jammed in. There is some real poo poo in there that makes considering Ferrothorn alternatives seem quaint.

I think Chyinmunk is the hardest blank there is, and I think it works, in that the normally cute critter is now kind of unsettling.

Most of them are like Palij here. The pupil is still missing, but I guess the white is supposed to be light shining on the eyeball?

Palij and its evolved form Pajay have nuclear sprites but they don't ever show up as nuclear Pokemon. Nuclear Pajay uses an older design. Pahar, the first form, doesn't have a nuclear sprite.

The Vinoville Gym's puzzle is pushing a button to reveal these passageways for a brief moment, lest you fall off.

I don't like it because Uranium doesn't exactly control precisely.

Third ant evolution, and the move it needs to evolve. Wild Charge is most things' best physical electric move.

That's what we call "damning with faint praise" in the industry.

As evidenced by the first trainer using a bug/electric Pokemon, this gym focuses on Steel and Psychic.

A lot of S51s, which resist grass and are immune to ground, but Deeznuts has Crabhammer pretty much just for them.

Uh huh.

Also he's named after Guns 'n' Roses's guitarist. I dunno, it needs three or four more references.

NO

Eventually after bulldozing over a bunch of S51 and Dearewls and Comites we finally get to Sheldon.

He reiterates his characterization.

OFSelects: Judas Priest - Metal Meltdown

This is on the high end of physical Psychic moves. Damming with faint praise, again. Nothing Psychic in Uranium has higher physical than special attack, and they all get Psychic The Move, so it's whatever.

So when getting pummeled by low-power physical moves, why not buff attack and defense at the same time? When a nonghost uses Curse, it's like Bulk Up but with a speed drop. Deeznuts is already slow as hell, so he's just getting to pummel poo poo and is highly resistant to harm.

Gararewl is the evolved form of Dearewl. It's... uh... A horse with one very long hair? It's lost the rock type. It's Uranium's sole mono-steel Pokemon, and thus, the only non-nuclear Pokemon to resist nuclear damage.

The only thing.

Iron Defense is a huge defense boost, which sorta is a problem when Dig takes two turns.

Metal Whip is Gararewl's signature move. It's wrap & friends with a relatively decent power.

Eventually, Crabhammer crits, which ignores defense boosts.

Cometeor is Comtie's evolved form. It's weak to grass.

OH gently caress HE HAS HIS OWN BACKHOE DRAGON

So, yeah, after Cali had a Pokemon that could still evolve, Sheldon has MEGAWEAPON.

Oh right, Tracton gets this at level 33, an attack boosting move that makes its already high speed even higher.

On a thing with two weaknesses. at least you have good TMs for it?

Deeznuts gets it with one Dig because of Curse.

Whew.

Sheldon is shocked by our strength and thanks us for the interesting event.

Uh... yay?

Note: as soon as we talk to said kid, poo poo goes down. If you're making the mistake of playing this, you might want to make sure you got Dig.

It's Theo obv. He lost to Sheldon at... some point.

He's really frustrated by how he's struggling and how no one really respects him.

Also his dad may be dead, since he was at Epsilon when it exploded and there's been no word from him since.

Then explosion.

Indeed, there are sirens real faint in the distance. Play this real quiet. That idea.

There are two copies of this sound effect in two different folders. I'm not sure which one is actually used.

The ranger theme is playing again. I hate it so much. It's just so loud and high-energy for its short loop and how frequently it plays.

Thanks for expositing on why you have a bird that isn't native to Tandor, this was useful information to convey when we're being hosed up by whatever happened.

The catastrophe was totally a surprise and caught everyone off-guard.

PU-Vinoville=[.ogg

In one of the good ideas this game has, the music for this screen is an uncomfortable version of Vinoville's normal music. It's eerie and haunting, as it should be.

Now if it did things like this more often instead of nuclear event and the ranger theme any time anything loving happens, but, uh, it doesn't.

PU-Legen Town.ogg
And just like that it's over and we're back to rather plain covers of actual Pokemon music - Dewford Town in this case.

And now we're back to the ranger theme, jfc.

You know Uranium isn't for babies since it uses bad words.

They mention steel types specifically, even though being good at battling Nuclear Pokemon is about being fast and strong.

Sheldon steps forth, and he reveals his character arc:

He actually liked Vinoville all along, hence why he terrorized its population and openly bemoaned it.

How do you be tsundere towards your residence?

They tell Theo to stay because he just a kid and he lacks a Tracton to make up for it.

The entrance is actually south of this building. Nice clear wording dudes!

I know it's common to keep interiors on the same map to save space, but they usually aren't visible from the doorway.

Oh look it's Dad again! Oh look ITS THE loving RANGER MUSIC AGAIN

Kellyn gladly lets his son into nuclear hazard zones in order to see his awesome skillz.

So we're back at another point where we have to fight fixed battles with wild nuclear Pokemon.

Route doesn't normally have Owten on it. How did it get here?

We're in a partner battle with Kellyn and his well-made sprites.

Emprilla is Uranium's Primeape evolution. It's, like, the least interesting direction to take Primeape's design - make it have a normal body and put a crown on it.

But it's fast with high attack, and that's all we need when dealing with the nuclear menace.

Another boring partner battle happens.

Maybe she noticed her own design and is protesting until she gets a new one?

Either way snakes show up.

Nuclear Arbok shows off its biohazard symbol, and Nuclear Barand is the only Nuclear/Dragon in the game.

Of course I have to have a nuclear dragon. Why would I not get a nuclear dragon?

And that's that, and route 11 is sealed until the post-game. Hope you liked it. Vinoville Town and Route 8 are also off-limits.

For our efforts he gives us-

An HM. Great, just what I wanted.

It's time to backtrack then go to Anthell!

Its like they realized, wait, we have no pure steel type, uhhhhhhhhh ok just remove the final version of this line's other typing

And it's really really weird they have no other pure-steel type because the game makes a point of saying steel and only steel resists nuclear, when there is one Pokemon that's pure steel and thus actually resistant to nuclear. This game's fetish for type pairs is at odds with the Nuclear type, which is really obvious if you use any half-decent Nuclear-type offensively.

And it's also a wrong statement, as nuclear resists itself!
