Yugioh has always been a broken mess of a game, every since the very beginning. It's just a different kind of broken now than it used to be. Still super fun though. Can't wait for dinosaur meta to begin.

Anybody complaining about Yugioh only now being a broken mess of a game is a broken brained baby who lusts for the good old days and was never good enough or into the game enough to know that from its first loving set the game was a horrifically broken mess of chase cards and wank. Nothing has changed, if anything the games gotten far funner for introducing more playstyles than "Have the highest attack monster, also gently caress the other player if they don't have removal." It turned a stale game that in its very first pack was "If you do not have Hitotsume-Giant then you might as well not be playing because only two other monsters have 1200 attack and that's as high as it goes without tribute." To one with exciting turnabouts and counters. Rank 4 Toolbox might be degenerate, but I'll take being able to have answers to my opponents and being able to turn a losing situation into my victory over having to sit around and fiddle with my dick each turn. If you think this game was ever more balanced or 'fun' in the past, you are wrong. I have played this game in every era it's had. It's had its degenerate Tier-0 formats, it's had a healthy meta, and all of it has been power creep. Ever since set 1, Where the only tribute monsters were Gaia the Fierce Knight and Dark Magician and the latter was always going to be stronger than the former, with no way to ever bridge that gap.

Off the top of my head, there's only like, one modern deck (Zoodiacs) that can do that consistently and reliably, and the OCG banlist just rendered said deck unplayable. Maybe Infernoids, but they can't do it nearly as consistently.

Infernoids were fun. Honestly, the only decks recently that made me want to quit (rather than just the price and the toxic playerbase) was PSY-Frames. Jesus Christ, I don't care if they were balanced or not, that was the most unfun poo poo to play against in the history of the goddamn game. At least against a one-turn-win decks, the games were quick.

After all, I could bring up Goat Control as a truly degenerate deck from 2004. Or Chaos Control, same year. And lets take a look at that winning deck lineup from 2003 Sangan Witch of the Black Forest Jinzo Gemini Elf x3 Mystic Tomato x3 Don Zaloog x2 Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer Sinister Serpent Magician of Faith Yata-Garasu Fiber Jar Raigeki Dark Hole Change of Heart Snatch Steal Nobleman of Crossout Heavy Storm Harpie's Feather Duster Mystical Space Typhoon x3 Pot of Greed Graceful Charity Delinquent Duo Confiscation The Forceful Sentry Mirage of Nightmare Monster Reborn Premature Burial Imperial Order Call of the Haunted Ring of Destruction Mirror Force Drop Off x3 And pretty much every deck looked exactly the same as it. and it did exactly the same thing. Except it was worse, because old Yugioh had way LESS answers and far more degenerate power.

Storm is better compared to most Exodia decks which is "I will draw my entire deck and all 5 pieces of Exodia in this one turn or I will concede the game.

I made it a long time ago and knew zero ASM though so I'll likely update it at some point. Download here. The changes I remember are: - The price of all cards at the shop was divided by 10 to make them match Sacred Cards prices, EXCEPT for the Exodia pieces. They sell for quite a bit still. - All cards had their Deck Cost halved, meaning less capacity grinding. - You now earn more capacity and money from duels. - Some monsters were given additional effects. Example: Queen's Double and Rainbow Flower have the same effect as Mystic Lamp, which is to attack the opponent directly. Nothing that game-breaking, just thought a couple starter cards could use a boost. - All cards now have their TCG stats. There were a few that originally did not. - Ritual monsters have had their Divine attributes removed (don't you DARE spoil why I did that) - Ritual spells were replaced with monster cards originally removed in Reshef of Destruction - The final boss was nerfed. Believe me, he needed it. - All opponents now start at 8000 LP.

Looks like you started this thread right around when my friends and I decided to get back into the game, right around when the new movie came out. Wish I had seen this thread sooner so I could have jumped on the poking fun at the dummy who had to cheat to LP Sacred Cards 7 years ago bandwagon, but oh well. I'm looking forward to seeing where the plot goes in Reshef of Destruction. I never played that one, only ever heard that it was painfully difficult which made it painfully unfun. I was never a fan of these styles of Yu-Gi-Oh games, if it was going to involve the cards I preferred they stick with the actual TCG rules. I started rereading the manga about a week ago too, I'm at volume 1 of Duelist, and some of the differences between the manga and anime are pretty interesting. I like seeing the manga only characters show up in these updates, nice nods to fans of the series, and unique sprites so the NPC's wind up with some extra color to them.
