perez is bad in that he won't ban corporate donations and supports lovely, sovereignty-ruining trade deals. but lol if you think he's going to be debbie-level bad, she ran things like nothing was ever wrong even though the party degenerated under her watch. keep screaming loudly and run good, accountable candidates, inaction at the top didn't stop republicans eight years ago

two other things:
-ellison would have lost in a blowout as early as last year, and would have gotten nothing in return instead of vice-chair
-why are you letting high-level party people ruin your view? this wasn't that surprising. fights don't end in the first round, typically

buttigieg talked a lot more about focusing on local races and probably should have won based on that, but no chance a mayor of a small city is gonna beat two party higher-ups. not sure why ellison is one of the worst, although being alike with Perez on many issues doesn't fill me with confidence about your upcoming answer

still, none of them were that woman from Idaho who said that white people should shut up. if perez didn't run i bet she would have been the candidate for stubborn establishment dems to rally behind, and we'd be much worse off

both were in the pockets of banks and relied on consultants such as david brock

buttigieg skipped a florida david brock fundraiser/infotainment session for the women's march. perez and ellison both went. buttigieg's biggest donor is ActBlue and a woman named Ann Stack. ellison's biggest donors are a bank and a medical equipment company.

A hilariously misguided assumption that those in power are capable of recognizing when they make mistakes.

Reagan lost the 1968 primaries, the 1976 primaries and transformed america 1980-88

Goldwater lost the 1964 election and yet his extremist political philosophy ended up being mainstream majority by 1980

insert Sanders in their roles and yeah

I honestly kinda believe this now

Only the sanderist wing of the democratic party really are willing to support solutions to the automated and sharing economy (GMI, single payer, college education to move to higher end jobs). And his ideas are surprisingly popular with younger people (incl minorities). Socialist is no longer shadow word death to be used against a politician.

I don't expect Trump to be all that successful, 2008-2024 or so is increasingly looking like the late 19th-early 20th century when the Lincoln-McKinley industrialists fail to resolve the issues caused by laissez-faire capitalism before it came crashing down in 1929

The obama-trump era(they will almost certainly be grouped together) might be analogous to Theodore Roosevelt/Wilson: a kind of precursor to a fundamental realignment

The word "automation" is actually used in mainstream media nowadays, so I'm guessing in 15 years when millions of taxi drivers and truck drivers get thrown out of work only 40% of them will blame China or BIGGOVERNMENTTAXESREGULATION. Which works out more for a Sanders than for a Trump.
