Thanks. Which bird arm thread? I made it randomly years ago and found out later about the subreddit.

Here is some (lovely) content.

Painting a mural and struggling with the skin. Acrylic glazes can be hard. Especially when we are talking glazes several feet in size. It's above a local bar. I plan on using masking tape and contact paper / spray paint for the mandala.

I use floetrol which is something like 14 bucks a gallon and works just as well as any acrylic medium IMO.
The thing is something like 8 foot in width so I need a lot.

Making skin from glazes is especially difficult at that size. The pearl I wanted to use for the highlights ended up being too much and much more luminescent / cool in tone than expected.

Thank you! I love toned paper with black and white charcoal or colored pencils. The paper provides the mid tones naturally.

Went back and worked on that old sketch again.

I sometimes wonder how much 2d concept work is necessary before just jumping into 3d. Like... am I just reworking the 2d stuff when I know I should be spending time just doing it right in 3d?

When does prototyping become procrastinating?

Adding color to the mandala. Sorry about the blurry pic. It is metallic blue. I also have metallic purple and green. Just not sure which should be the outer vs. inner colors.

Learn better anatomy. Go regularly to figure drawing sessions, or just get your friends to pose for you. Feel good about getting better with some kind of daily progress towards realism. Remember that "style" is just a byproduct of hard work / consistent practice. Most people are rarely very happy with their work on the first pass. "Stay thirsty, my friend!"

Life drawing.

It's "denril" - which is translucent and lots of fun to draw on. I can't explain it other than to say it handles ink like nothing else. Still getting used to the surface qualities. Ink takes MUCH longer to dry out because the surface isn't very porous at all but rather slick / plastic.
