Qu Appelle posted:I went to the local Equality/Pride March today, and marched in it for half the time - it was very empowering! I'm sorry things went sideways in Seattle. Ours was very peaceful and very powerful. There were maybe 30 of the bad guys and many hundreds of the good guys so just standing there was statement enough. A couple of Muslim women in hajibs went across the street and offered cookies to the bad guys. It was beautiful. On another note, congresspeople are reporting that calls and letters to their offices have returned to pre-election levels. In a week when the senate is planning an assault on healthcare this is just awful. Please take time to call your senators this week. https://www.5calls.org can provide you with phone numbers and scripts. Call every day. We need 3 republicans to be too scared to pass this thing.

i updated the OP to include these guys http://www.postcardsforamerica.com/ i added them on facebook so every morning I wake up to a couple of new postcards to write. some postcards are complaining and some are thanking people standing up for us. it's a good early morning coffee activity.

I've been doing signs held up by a long wooden rod for the last few months, but I think I want to switch to a French Revolution-style "Trump's head on top of a stick" thing, using the same wooden pole with either a papier-mâché Trump head or a stuffed Trump mask at the top with red ribbons coming down from the neck. How likely would it be for it to get taken away by the NYPD? Could I mitigate that with a long cardboard tube instead?

Here's a bunch of things all centered around Delaware, for any of you who share my misfortune of living here. Short notice but first thing's first: https://twitter.com/thenetworkde/status/930415862103887872 I've been working with Network Delaware lately on various things. This tweet is a project that wants to reform punishment in schools, essentially replacing "punishment" with restorative justice, and an empathetic learning environment. The idea is that children suspended for acting out in schools are often the most vulnerable, and disrupting their education can lead to worsening poverty and crime. There is a kick-off event for specifically this aspect of Network Delaware happening in Wilmington tonight. Network Delaware, in general, is always looking for new members. If you want to help out, PM me, or message them. Additionally, on Saturday, I plan to canvass for Tizzy Lockman, who is seeking to primary our third district Democratic senator. She's an extremely progressive candidate and can use all the help available. On the 28th, another progressive group, Delaware United, is having an end of year recap event of sorts in Newark. If you go to any of this stuff, I'm the guy with the dumb hair.

I think anything short of political assassination is going to fail right now, and that kind of action would spur there GOP to take off the mask and formally compete our transition into a tin pot dictatorship. Our first opportunity for effective recourse is the 2018 midterms. The younger generation may turn out and actually loving vote if we can make Net Neutrality a major platform item for the midterm elections. Contact your local Dems if you have them, burn whatever oil you can on showing them how big a stink revocation of NN protections is online.

I'm thinking about starting a "DO SOMETHING" good candidate megathread for the mid-Atlantic Delaware/Philly/Maryland region, so we can help people who give a poo poo in at least one specific region. Anyone have good people outside of Delaware who are running? I am fine getting Delawareans on my own.
