I'm a big giant hugely impractical idiot and I love big giant hugely impractical idiot guns.

Current hillbilly collection (sans the big one):

Left top: Ruger LCP 380 (.380 auto) It's super thin and light. Great for conceal carry.
Right top: 4" Astra .357 Magnum. Used to be my dad's backup when he was a pilot in the Marines.
Middle: your standard surplus AK-47. Shoots 7.62x39, and will shoot the dirtiest cold war bullshit ammo you give it.
Bottom: Henry Lever Action, chambered in .45-70 Government. The term "Elephant Gun" is nebulous, but you could call this rifle an entry-level one.
Not pictured: CZ 550 chambered in .458 Lott. The Lott was made because the .458 Winchester Magnum couldn't reliably penetrate a charging bull elephant's skull from 100 yards.

Left to right, key for scale: .380 auto, .357 Magnum, 7.62x39, .45-70 Government.

The .45-70 would gently caress UP a bear. the Henry or the Marlin lever action .45-70s are excellent trail guns, as they're like 7 lbs and short but can stop a Buffalo.

I can't recall the first movie I went to see, but this brings up an anecdote.

My family had a van when I was growing up, and we'd travel places frequently. My parents set up a small tv/vcr combo between their seats so my sister and I could watch movies. We'd alternate.

I'd watch Twister
She'd watch Spice World
I'd watch Jurassic Park
She'd watch Spice World

I have seen Spice World over 50 times and all of them have been as a captive.

100% this. That dude has killed all mystery with the guitar and can ramp you into blues or folk or whatever you want. He also has you learn a couple of chords at first and makes you really get them good, then gives you songs you can play with them, then adds in a few more.

Canon's 75-300mm entry level is an excellent zoom lens for the price. I think its an f/4 so not a super duper fast aperture, but depending on what youre doing with it who gives a gently caress. It's also like $200 brand new.

I have a 2011 E63, last year of the non-turbo. I can't find a shop manual or a wiring diagram anywhere. SDS is required to do anything, and the cheapest available option is a Chinese knockoff system for $500.

Mercedes does not make things easy, especially if it's relatively new.

I took my mom and her man out to the local microbrew place, grabbed bbq from the food truck in their lot and watched doggoes playing on the outside patio area. A good break from the grind. Still probably be better if I saved it, but gently caress it.

Breaks from the grind are wonderful and make me want to work even harder. Its a good way of doing things, and a great thing to spend money on.

Wife and I are taking crew lessons and prepping the sailboat. Warm weather is making us start making plans. I cant wait to just be able to hike some with the girlfriend and take in some nature soon. Maybe this weekend!
