corn in the bible posted:those levels take a shitton of content production to make because of how fast the player goes through it all, and it's basically impossible to make a generations-style game yearly. pretty much everyone has admitted that the whole reason they had sonic boom made is that they wanted to focus their teams on the next main title and outsourcing seemed like a way to do that on the cheap. A lot of people seem to think that the Werehog levels in Unleashed were something more than just the dev team needing a bunch of slow levels that took awhile because all the daytime levels would make the game last about 20 minutes otherwise.

Dark Souls 3 is going to be the game in the series that will always be remembered as "yeah that was a game" in the public opinion. Everyone will present their memories of DS1, all the many flaws and good things buried in DS2 and then DS3 will just be "yeah it was pretty good" with no strong memories to go along with it.
