I suspect that it and many other educational and/or religious cartoons from the era kind of look similar because they weren't actually animated in-house but by animation studios abroad, mostly from Japan. I recently watched a Dutch-language program with English subs (“The Genius”), and every episode I would miss something important from laughing at how goofy the language sounded, or how they would break into English for no apparent reason: surely they have Dutch words for these things! But the cherry on top was the antagonist figure, who spoke in this gravelly voice and was clearly intended to be this over-the-top Freddy Krueger-esque dude - except, it’s apparently impossible to issue mockery and intimidation in Dutch without sounding ridiculous, I love it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FncXvw7GT-Y

I remember when Magicka came out and people weren't sure if the language in it was gibberish or swedish. And then one goon earnestly posted something like "Geez, I mean, I know most of you don't speak it, but you would think you could at least recognize the swedish language. Like, from TV shows and movies or something." As if TV and movies in north america had even a second of swedish language media on it at all.
