What in the holy hell does that mean? I don't want to over-analyze but that's like how the Anaheim GM talked about Despres. If he's not majorly broken Sullivan really needs to work on how to deliver bad news.

It sounds like a concussion but they don't want to come out and say it's one for whatever reason. What else could be day-to-day but now it's longer but we're not sure how long?

I can understand fans from the far reaches of Long Island skipping games, especially if the train trip is more than an hour. I can understand families, who now might have to pay $20 per person to get to Brooklyn instead of per carload to park. But there are plenty of fans who, like me, live about 30 minutes away by train but can’t be bothered to go to a game, even when they live on a train line that doesn’t require changing at Jamaica. And those fans, willing to abandon the team over a train ticket and an extra 10 minutes of travel time, make up an alarming majority of the fan base.

I don't live out in Coram or Riverhead. It takes an hour or more from an arch from Wantagh - Bethpage - Glen Cove and further out. That's All of Suffolk and a decent chunk of Nassau that make it inconvenient as hell to get to a game from.

More expensive tickets, more hassle, more travel costs and time and up until the Cappy firing a losing product. No surprise a lot of the original fan base wasn't making the extra effort to get to the barclays to have crappier sight lines and pay more for concession (which were much better tasting at least).

Also hurting them are all the monday/tuesday/thursday home games instead of Friday ones.

The guaranteed revenue from the arena deal is great and worth it for the team, but if they end up having to renegotiate those terms then why stay?

The Coliseum was/is a dump and a half but Barclays has plenty of its own problems.

So, wait, does this head coach know you're supposed to have the kids rot on the 4th line? Why can't Doug Weight do that!

He's looked real good, lot of jump and hasn't made many mistakes so far. Aside from that 3rd period PP shift where he just didn't want the puck and played hot potato with Seidenberg? 7 or 8 times in a row.

Tbh I thought Letang should've retired after the stroke. Then when had another concussion in 2015 I thought for sure he would put his health first.

This time it's a vague upper body injury but I think i heard somewhere it's another (suspected) concussion. Dude need to hang them up before he winds up dead or in a home with mush for brains.

Is there a league rule that says they have to disclose if it is a concussion?

I think I'd risk it for the 50m dollars or whatever huge amount he has left on his contract.

I thought the trade deadline was only the end of the period in which you could trade players and have them still be eligible to participate in the playoffs, and that actually you can trade year round except for the Christmas roster freeze?

You can. Hartnell for Umberger+4th was between the end of the playoffs and the Draft. Like June 15th or something.

You can also sign players who can't play in the playoffs now unless something changed, too. See Marty Turco to Boston.

With all the fired coaches and GM being complete dogshit, and idiot teams doing idiot things like rehiring them, I'd think the league would want to keep them out as long as possible if they want the quality of play to go up.

Clod "soopercoache" Joolienne is a prominent example of a coach who would be unhirable at the moment if that stupid rule was still in play, to say nothing of the fact that Lumbus doesn't seem to be complaining about Torts.

when you look at how guys like hakstol, desjardins, johnston, and bednar have done, you can kind of see why teams keep going to the retreads though. granted except for johnston those are all guys whose teams have had serious roster deficiencies too
