I was out so I didn't get to watch the Habs game last night but put on the highlights when I finally crawled onto my couch in a drunken stupor. Did they actually play well or was the score just an indication that Hank seemed to be just as drunk as me on some of those goals?

Habs played well, Rags played poorly, Hank missed one or two of the goals he really should have stopped.

Lehner is now 0-21 on shootout attempts.

Also, the reffing in this league is getting egregiously bad. Both Eichel and Kane are mauled down by thrown sticks and grabs on a breakaway with no call, but a player drops his stick when someone touched it and they call interference on it, in overtime.

Seriously that was the worst slashing call ever. It wasn't even embellishment, just two sticks barely touched each other and one player wasn't holding their stick enough.

“Do you guys recognize who’s delivering your pizza?” someone finally asked.

“No,” responded the girl, 17-year-old Tatyana Bailey.

“Number 8, from the Washington Capitals?”

“I don’t do sports,” Tatyana said.

“It’s a good thing!” said Ovechkin, amid the laughter.

“I’m sorry,” the girl responded. “I’m sure this is probably very exciting for someone.”

The fancy stats people think he's great but he stinks

He starts against weaker competition, often in the offensive zone, and has success in the most sheltered minutes. He has offensive skills that are great in a certain role, but he's bad at defending in general. Last night, he deflected the first goal, went into the corner too late to support McDonagh and left a cross-ice pass open for the second goal, and missed a poke check on the third one (goal wasn't his fault, though.)

The Devils are definitely gonna be last in the conference, they're really bad. Maybe they duke it out with Detroit and Buffalo but I'm at least happy to see them losing and getting a better pick in the draft at this point. Big step back this year when I expected pretty much the same as last year and a playoff contention. Get this team some talent, any talent.

when he's good he's good when he's bad he's really bad. he's fine as a sheltered 3rd pairing guy but him defending is an adventure and despite everyone claiming "oh but he moves the puck so well out of his own end" it's often an adventure guessing where his passes are going to go

then again the whole rangers team seems to have gotten themselves stuck into the trying ot be fancy as gently caress but no one can make any passes and refuses to fight for pucks or forecheck worth a poo poo

San Jose would destroy them. I think they could snag a game but a lot would hinge on Elliot not playing like trash against one of the very best teams in the NHL. I'd guess Sharks in five, with Calgary stealing a game on the road in overtime.

Interesting about Clendening. I haven't watched him closely but I've been hearing about how AV is nuts for not letting him play more because his possession stats are so good, but you've just described some of the downside with those metrics. It's why I always look at things like zone time and quality of competition; some guys shouldn't be playing more than 3rd-pairing sheltered minutes and I suppose he's one of them.

On the other hand, Brady Skjei has been getting better and better all season and boy does he look awesome right now. Rangers fans are lucky to have him.

Elliott has been better lately (he's won 5 consecutive starts with .952 SV pct, and he played well enough to win 4 of them), but as long as we play Wideman every night that probably matters less than I'd like it too.

If they can get Owen Tippett, that would be interesting at least (McLeod and Bastian's linemate). They just have no depth. Hall/Palmieri/Zajac/Schneider/Greene/Severson is OK but there's nothing after that.

Broken clock right twice a day, etc.. I hope he gets back to 2013 form for his own sake, but the only things I remember from him between the end of 2012-13 and his trade were hanging out D partners, passes to the wrong colored jerseys, and decking Milan Lucic.
