Tbh I thought Letang should've retired after the stroke. Then when had another concussion in 2015 I thought for sure he would put his health first.

This time it's a vague upper body injury but I think i heard somewhere it's another (suspected) concussion. Dude need to hang them up before he winds up dead or in a home with mush for brains.

I think I'd risk it for the 50m dollars or whatever huge amount he has left on his contract.

OK it's a lot of money but even before this contract he had ~16m in career earnings, has ~35m today, and I'm pretty sure players still get paid on the LTIR....

The Leafs are well within their rights to raise ticket prices next year but lol at the way they're selling it:

quote:

Maple Leafs season-ticket renewals start Monday, and they’ll cost more than they did last season.

But Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment insists it’s raising prices to protect consumers and make more tickets available.

When the company’s analytics team tackled the secondary ticket market, it found that many single-game Leafs tickets sold via brokers and scalpers for nearly twice their face value. The markup represents a fat profit for resellers, and a hefty incentive to stay in business.

Next season, season-ticket prices will rise by between $7 and $16 per ticket per game, but MLSE chief commercial officer David Hopkinson says the increase won’t affect the final price on the secondary market, where brokers resell the season seats they purchase.

Instead, he says, raising the retail price with shrink resellers’ profit margins. Hopkinson says fewer brokers in business means more tickets for fans.

That's the thing. The secondary market is making money on the discrepancy between face value and what the market will bear. If people are willing to pay $300 a ticket, it doesn't matter what the secondary market pays for them, as long as it's far enough below $300 to be worth their while. If the leafs raise their price less than the "worth their while" variable, it won't affect the secondary market price at all because the supply and demand curves do not change.

This is excellent micreconomic theory but in practice resellers will just raise the prices and the "fans" they're talking about still won't able to afford the tickets. In fact they'll be even more out of reach.

e: In micro terms, hockey tickets to the Maple Leafs are inelastic goods.

No they aren't. The supply is fixed but the demand depends on the price.

Negative. When demand for the good does not change despite a change in price that good is said to be inelastic.

Corey Perrys: Not Even Once

quote:

The FBI search for 33-year-old Corey Perry, a Howell L. Watkins Middle School teacher facing child pornography charges, extends well beyond Palm Beach County, where he has taught since 2005.

“We do believe he is on the run, an we certainly are looking for him, all throughout Florida and possibly other states at this point,” said FBI spokesman Michael Leverock at a morning news conference.

Perry is facing child pornography charges of production, receipt and enticement, said Leverock.

Asked whether he should be considered dangerous,

“Anybody on the run from this serious of a charge should be considered dangerous.

“As far as being armed, I have no indication he is, but I certainly I would not want the public to approach him.”

The arrest warrant was issued Tuesday. It remains sealed, and details of the case undisclosed, out of concern for the multiple victims identified by the FBI, said Leverock.
