Chad Sexington posted:It would only be appropriate for a team with the likes of Alex Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Dmitri Orlov to be invited to the Trump White House. They probably know a lot of the same people! it's gonna be hard to rig the stanley cup playoffs for the caps through hacking, but then again one video review could be all the difference...

Vincent Van Goat posted:The players who go unprotected would likely knew that they were anyway, as I can imagine any half decent agent letting their client stay in dark about whether they're able to be picked. while that's very true, they'd still want to keep it secret because, if they publicize it, fans will make fun of the unprotected guys on twitter JoelJoel posted:Okay, we should make the draft secret as well. I mean, feelings might get hurt if a player doesn't get selected as high as another. i mean, it's not even standard practice for teams to publicize contract lengths or amounts. most teams do, but not all, and a lot of other contract information mainly becomes known from inside sources leaking them.

Matt Zerella posted:Weird, I read it as "Caps fans stop crying, we did it last year" pretty much. jarmo and maclellan have more to lose from a first or second round exit than rutherford in terms of job security (especially maclellan), so reinforcing the narrative of getting screwed by an unfair playoff format is very beneficial to them

I don't remember what sparked my interest, but it's mindblowing in the first round of the playoffs. vladivostok was playing omsk. i don't know much but i'm assuming the KHL does sudden death over time for as long as it takes in the playoffs just like the NHL right? could you imagine having like a 3OT game in a series like that

PK Subban didn't get suspended for taking a baseball swing at Mark Stone's hand, nobody even got a minor penalty for the stick work that broke Gaudreau's hand earlier this season, Parise hosed up Krug's hand in a similar fashion as Methot's here a couple years ago and got off scott free, so why is anybody surprised by the lack of discipline here? If the discipline was slanted in Crosby's favor it's because there was no penalty during the play, but not taking supplemental discipline in this instance is entirely consistent with how the NHL handles this kind of play.

if anything it's "better" to slash an opponent's gloves than the middle of the stick because you're a million times more likely to get caught if you break a stick (as opposed to, say, a hand )
