Twin Cinema posted:I am sure someone else can answer this, but was there a change to the rules in expansion drafts between the period when the Sharks/Sens drafted and when the next four teams drafted? The Thrashers look bad, but they did get some decent players, which is more than can be said by the absolute trainwrecks of the Sharks/Sens. The changes don't seem too major. None of them had anything about salary rules since it's all pre-cap. In 1991 they could protect 2 goalies and 16 players. 92 was 2 goalies and 14 players. In 99 it was 1 goalie, 5 defense and 9 forwards or 2 goalies, 3 defense and 7 forwards. Atlanta just got luckier? Those still only gave them the bottom defenseman and 4th line. Oh yeah, that's something we overlooked. San Jose first had to stock up on North Stars players, then had competition for the other picks. Ottawa had to pick with Tampa. Atlanta was all alone.

Off of a 27-39-14 season.

I think my favorite thing this time of year is when they do "Who won the trade?" polls and people just vote for whichever team has more points and/or made the playoffs. Yes swapping Hall for Adam Larsson is why the Oilers made the playoffs. Good call.

Actually that statistic means the Atlantic is good.

Maybe the East should stop letting teams who can't win like New York, New Jersey and Tampa Bay get to the finals then.

Rask had a below average save percentage but top 10 GAA for most of 2017. (That's bad.)

14th in 12-13, 3rd in 13-14, 22nd in 14-15, 5th last year, and 12th this year. 5th overall in the 5 year span.

This one you can actually just get from NHLcom. But I did forget to hit the sum box. Boston is actually 7th over the 5 year span. Pittsburgh Washington Chicago Dallas Tampa Rangers Boston Islanders Anaheim St. Louis http://www.nhl.com/stats/team?aggre...1&sort=goalsFor Or 5v5, where they drop a spot to 8th: http://www.nhl.com/stats/team?aggre...rt=goalsFor5on5 Order shakes up a bit but the top 10 are all the same, except St. Louis who drop out a few spots and are replaced by Minnesota.

Arizona pulled off a -102 and Buffalo a -113 just 2 years ago too.

Notably, Washington wasn't the only expansion team that year. The other one, the Scouts, sucked too but had double Washington's points.
