Anyway, I liked this quite a bit, and I'm going to honor its memory and pretend it's the end of the X-Men franchise and never watch another.

Yeah, I liked how the movie didn't really dwell on the father trying to kill Logan, or frame it as some big betrayal. They both wordlessly understood what the deal was, and the audience is expected to do the same.
