Have a friend on Facebook flipping out on Medicare costs rising for his father. Basically they are getting less pills for the same price. What is causing this because he is pissed at Obama since the change happened at the beginning of Jan.

A ton of people like their healthcare/insurance because they don't have to use it in any significant way. Actually having to use it (surgery, ambulance, etc..) is a smaller portion of those that have it. So explaining that people lose their houses is usually met with a literal "not my problem" attitude. And it comes from the more christian heavy part of my friends which loving blows my mind.

Arglebargle III posted:Look at the classifieds in your local paper, there are a lot of positions that guarantee 75% of hours offered and if you work it out golly it always comes out to no health benefits. Or like in my situation they offer it but don't contribute, thus bumping me into the "family glitch" so I cant get subsidies for my family of 4.

Hieronymous Alloy posted:Large public infrastructure gets sold off and "privatized". When they get around to it, the push will be to make the interstates toll roads instead. We recently had a freeway expansion in California between Orange and Riverside county. They purposely left a choke point to divert people to the new"Express Lanes," except now its a crap shoot if these toll lanes are faster or not because the choke is shared with all the lanes. It blew my mind. My commute has gone up 10 mins since before the construction started. But I might get 3 mins back if I spend up to 8 dollars on the new toll lanes. Not to mention the old stretch of "express lanes" that have been around since '94 is getting congested as well. Its all too little too late with no real relief in sight.

I don't even know why my employer bothers with health insurance, they don't contribute and the plans look no different than the exchanges and are of similar price. This has the bonus effect of disqualifying me for subsidies.

Went to the Kaiser ER due to symptoms of CHF. I dont know what I should feel more worried about: the fact that the doctors currently can't find the problem, or how much this is going to cost me with all the tests that are being ordered with a non subsidized bronze plan (gently caress you family gap). I'm getting smacked with 35 dollar co pays every couple of days plus missed work, and the stress is unbearable. Which by the way stress is what my specialist is currently blaming my problems on after an xray and a blood test. I was just told me eat better while blowing me the gently caress off. I got a hold of another doctor to get some tests going because gently caress that. Yeah my legs burning, legs feeling weak, brain fog and restricted breathing are nothing to worry about, go eat some veggies and stop stressing. Enjoy the bill or death. Or both.

In the family glitch and our insurance went up 200 dollars a month for next year. This is loving insane, so insane that I've been applying for every lateral move job at Disney Parks (for the past year) so I can have a union job with benefits, I've given up the idea of having holidays and weekends off at this point just so I can have good insurance. Uni healthcare cant come fast enough.

JustJeff88 posted:I just wanted to express my deepest condolences as I am very close to my grandfather. He is also a prostate cancer survivor and, despite every attempt to destroy it, the NHS in Britain has kept it under control and him alive 99 years. I can only say that I feel your pain. Thanks. The dude is 91, before this, he still golfs, drives, probably could wrestle my rear end to the ground, and flirts with the ladies. But now he can't stay awake for more than a few hours.
