Who knows how long the servers for this game will stay up.

Squeenix also owns the rights to hitman, so 47 is probably dead.

Why does everyone think I'm going to get in trouble?

In hindsight I should've expected something like this after they murdered Sleeping Dogs and United Front Games. :( Pouring one out for Hitman and hoping they're going to implement a proper offline mode.

Wait, Square murdered Sleeping Dogs? Sleeping Dogs was like, the best open world crime game anyone ever made.

That game had so many great touches. Little stuff like how you didn't actually lose accuracy on your pistol by hammering the button as hard as you could like a proper hong kong action hero really sold it.

Appropriate that I learn of UFG's death here, in the assassin thread.

Somebody call for an ant?

Could be that squeenix overpayed for it, spent too much on pr, or any number of things. All the notice indicates is that net total it lost them a lot of money.

That, or the Japan paymasters are willing to sacrifice the Western division so that they can keep making Final Fantasy games once every blue moon.

That's the best case scenario, along with someone investing into IO so that they can finish season 2. Needless to say, I hope it's actually true.

To be fair though. Andromeda wasn't entirely their fault and a good portion of the blame can be placed squarely on the developers for that mess.

Although I'm really hoping that if EA does take this game over that they don't do what they did with Dead Space.

I knew a bunch of guys at UFG from well before this; they told me that they dealt with Japan all the time when developing Sleeping Dogs, the impression I got was the western division confirmed the milestones and signed the checks and that was about it.
