I don't think the DEEN Shirou-Gilgamesh fight is better; the Ufotable one is more "realistic" given what we know of GoB but rewatching the VN version it holds my imagination much better.

On the other hand the prelude to the fight with Shirou using K&B against Gilgamesh on the roof is definitely better than the Deen version I think.

The actual Fate route is a solid Urban Fantasy adventure romp with most of the usual story telling tropes; what makes FSN shine for me is how the next two routes kinda go back and look at the original work as a retrospective taking it apart and then putting it back together.

Rebellion is crazy amounts of pure awesome and has a lot of catharsis to it, I don't think it's an entirely definitive ending because clearly something is bound to happen afterwards, but it's neat to imagine Madoka waking up and forced to do battle with her best friend that has embraced darkness and maybe there's a series or a movie that can flesh that out.

I'm not in a hurry though and more Monogatari is always welcome; apparently there's a inbetweener mobile game for Madoka that takes place before Rebellion.

Why can't we ever get a mobage adaption where they just give us both gendered protagonists? Just make them cousins so the shippers get an extra factorial worth of combinations.

Warau Salesman: There's certain circumstances I like sufferporn and this is not it. This is just random not bad people getting screwed over and their lives ruined by a malevolent force and I will not enable it.

Sagrada Reset looks interesting. I hope combining nominally barely useful powers stays a theme. More smug Aoi Yuuki.

Machiavelism: Bullshit nonsense title aside, the action sequences I think were cool and I grinned at most of it.

Alice and Zouroku: Pretty good.

Sakura Quest got a visceral emotional reaction out of me and is relatable to my present situation so I'll be giving it a go.

NO. BAD! BAD!

On the other hand the actions scenes seem like they're pretty good.

Sakura Quest still seems like a lot of fun. It definitely another love letter type of series, I think and it looks like it harkens back to a time in Japan (the 80s or 90s?) that might connect more with Japanese viewers. I don't think the US had as much of a thing like that since those sorts of tourist traps weren't usually tied to specific towns.

I like the OP a lot too.

Can Anime sit down and make up it's collective mind whether seeing a naked woman makes your a pervert, or not caring means your dick doesn't work thanks or something, I feel like I've seen every permutation of this trope.

I actually hadn't gotten this far in the Eromanga-sensei manga but episode 3 things actually get interesting in showcasing the difference between Elf's George RR Martin approach to writing (I write when I feel like writing gently caress you) and Masamune's Harry Turtledove approach (I have five daughters to get through college I need the money).

I like how relatable it is, Elf is horrified at the thought of working as hard as Masamune does but at the sametime seems to respect him for it, while Masamune is probably a workaholic who equally can't imagine constantly writing and feels pressured but also respects the basic premise that other authors have life styles that work for them.

I am probably overthinking this, also Sagiri's silent headbanging was fun.

In my mind if the show keeps a solid effort at maintaining the act of writing as its focus I'll keep up with it.

Eromanga-sensei being meta enough to finally give us a tsundere who realizes what she's doing with the most perfect animation showing us the look on her face as she realizes single handedly makes this a good show.

A show based on a light novel being meta about anime tropes but still indulging in those tropes? Never heard of that happening before!

I think you're being a little cynical, the scene worked really well. It isn't the "indulging" part here, but the character becoming self-aware of the trope they are discussing mid way through the bit.

An interesting thing about subs vs dubs is how there are in fact different cultures of English speakers that could be drawn on to try to better convey the meaning behind honorifics that don't to me get used. Like in Canada we use "sir" as a pretty general term of polite endearment and I think it could be effectively slot in in many instances.

It made me pretty happy actually because I tweeted this to the scanlator for MHA when he remarked in an earlier issue that he wasn't sure what to do and agreed with me that it could've worked. :shobon:

I sometimes watch a dub after a sub and usually I realize there was something I missed about the original, some information not adequately explained by subs that they localized better via subs or I missed because maybe I was reading something at the time; there's little things to appreciate.
