Is ADTRW's hatred of Anime Strike so universal now that we can talk torrenting their exclusives?

"now"
anime strike hasn't existed until this season.
their service is difficult to navigate, 2-3x more expensive than CR/other options, and they seem to be doing very little work to lock down these licenses (they're being handed them all by Sentai). so I don't begrudge anybody talking about torrents at this time. of course this is all coming on the heels of a season where they didn't release any of their noitamina exclusives in the US until well after they had concluded airing and did so with zero indication that they were officially out.

just going back to the previous conversation about Anime Strike it's me I'm the sucker paying $5/mo for it and I agree that it really should be included with prime but Amazon seems to be making prime users pay for extra stuff in general, looking at what they used to offer in the music streaming & kindle sections that you have to pay a subscription for now. I think I'd probably rather have the option to pay a la carte for the stuff I want to use vs having my whole prime sub price jump up to cover all of it but if it went the other direction it might feel like I was getting more free stuff so I dunno. They're getting quite a few of the shows I want to watch so it made sense to go ahead and add it, but I totally agree that their site navigation is rear end and it's virtually impossible to find anything if it's not on the landing page.

Strike needs to be detached from Prime. I pay for Prime and understand that doesn't really cover all the free stuff you do get, so I'm fine if they want to offer services a la carte. The problem is it's a huge cost for people outside current Prime members and so severely limits accessibility.

and I'd rather pay a company for anime that nominally gives a gently caress about anime, so maybe Amazon is out of the question.

i saw it subbed last night and it was really good. a few issues where the subs (esp. for songs) seemed to be missing words/clarity and one line where sake was replaced with saké, but those are relatively minor to me. it's definitely an adjustment to watch anime on that big of a screen and have subs that far down on the picture though.

the movie itself is absolutely worth watching in a theatre though. great scenery, some really nice dips into different styles of animation, and there's a lot of good character animation as well. i liked the presentation of the body swapping and was genuinely taken aback by the twist (though it's foreshadowed enough for less passive viewers). the ending is very typical and so it was kinda boring, but the rest of the story is carried so well by the two leads and various friends/family members around them. you can definitely tell they're pushing a RADWIMPS album though, some of the music works well as used in the film but i (and others i've seen post) found some of the songs to be intrusive.

Season stream is cancelled for this season. My internet issues won't be fixed until Thursday and I don't really care to reschedule the first stream or rush to get the second stream prepped Friday night.

Come Summer I'll put up another poll and hopefully that one goes off without a hitch.

you could also watch for the cuteness and leave before the feels, which i am considering. when it's presented so plainly it kinda makes the whole inevitable death of most of the cast feel really unnecessary and bad.

I liked episode 0 of Kado because the negotiator is a cool dude, but the stuff about alien contact is just a snooze fest for me.

I would definitely be way more into the show if it was a semi-episodic thing about Shindou The Negotiator (is this residual love of ACCA?). Episode 0 was the coolest it has been even if he came across as kind of obtuse. But it's still kinda nice to have a show this slow to relax with, I suppose.

there's the kinda recent one-two punch of Hamatora and Ranpo Kitan, which were shows that didn't hit visually or in terms of story, and he's attached toi think every single Hamatora animation project. but yeah the dude has some serious high points on his resume as well so it seems pointless to carry around a strong opinion either way.

Fortunately roughly half of the 4th arc has been translated from WN to LN volumes, and I would expect all of act 4 to be translated before Christmas. Meaning that season 2 may come next year. Still it's irritating to be unable to talk about arc 4 with anyone when it's such a godamn amazing arc.

Room Mate is just so weird because there's no consistency in either the camerawork or what is actually happening. So the viewer being the POV character in the show is something that just randomly goes between existing and not.
