if it's predictable, shouldn't it.... not surprise and disappoint you? why were you expecting a different reveal from a story about people who live in a city isolated from the rest of the world? oftentimes a story isn't meant to le epic twist you. isn't the merit in what happens after?

The heroine lady has a big toothy grin and does a WAHAHAHA laugh before she says something crazy in an old Japanese dialect. It'll be a shame if the anime doesn't live up to this

that's a hard announcement to stand beside, but

https://twitter.com/3boshi_anime/status/840849858953072640

Mitsuboshi Colors anime coming soon from Silver Link. Starring, from left to right:
Hioka Natsumi (Kumamiko's Machi and the 10yo from last fall's WIXOSS who wants her mom back) as Kotoha, the quiet one who always has her DS on her
Takada Yuuki (Aoba in New Game, Rin in Aikatsu) plays Yui, the captain who cries the most
Kouno Marika (Hanabi AKA the blond girl in Ping Pong Girls, Nyunyu in Flip Flappers) is Sacchan, who likes poop. Classic slice-of-life idiot.

Vocal casting looks spot-on to me. The director has led a few small shows before this like Antimagic Academy. Yasukawa Shogo, in charge of composition, has been scripting for JC Staff for a long time, as well as new JoJo, and has done composition on stuff like Henneko, Neptunia, and Food Wars.

Like every manga by katsuwo, this series owns.

A few things to note.
Keiichi Sigsawa himself was the one with the idea that Aoi Yuuki should voice Kino in a possible new adaptation. They meet in a Dengeki Bunko event a few years ago and he mentioned it to her, Aoi was surprised he remembered her at all.(Sakura in the last episode was Aoi's first role. She was 13 at the time.)

During last years "participation drama" in Nicodouga video Aoi was pretty much begging for a new anime so she could voice Kino once again.
("Don't we have anyone rich in the audience willingly to fund a new anime?")

cute

yeah TLs are quite slow but I'd seen people read further and say it does a proper job dealing with themes of discrimination and religious oppression. the main draw is the smug heroine's "smart yet worldly naive" schtick, ofc

either way, considering how much shaft is still pimping madoka at every oppurtunity, I really doubt they're the ones that are a barrier to more Madoka. Urobuchi has lots of other plates in the air right now so it's easy to imagine he doesn't have time to write more madoka or doesn't have much interest in it at the moment.

on the other hand, shaft isn't kyoani. their past decade in animation has been almost entirely aniplex projects, and their biggest franchises are all produced by Iwakami which is why Madogatari even exists as a collaboration and keeps the meguca in the public eye.

the only brainchild Shinbo has to pimp is Prism Nana and it took him three years to bring it from pachislot to one OAV a year that no one even sees outside of select screenings.

It's a huge undersell to put some LN-derisive spin on Re:Creators' premise. There's no such angle presented in the first episode, like every other show people misguidedly claim is some "own" on LNs or the industry. Just a guess but I don't see the chars reading the stories they lived in and going, "woah, how cliche!" as if they're anime critics on Youtube.

Anyway, the premise is much simpler and better than that, bringing up the question of what fictional characters do when they suddenly find themselves in a "World of Gods" where they learn the truth behind their existences. The animation is super good and the first ep has a lot of action to show it off. The OST is noticeably Sawano, and it feels like he's playing with more fantasy-appropriate sounds again.

if you aren't looking to use it otherwise, I think it's a good time to try the Anime Strike trial (if you're in the US) just to check this one out, and hope better options for viewing will crop up as the season continues if the ridiculous entry cost of also subscribing to Amazon Prime doesn't appeal to you.

it really is sad how the adaptation for a cell phone game got two big budget seasons dripping with charm and style but berserk ended up as... that.

Well, one of these is a fresh IP with a lot of creative effort put into it and ideas that deserved more than a cheap mobile game, while the other one is just a low-risk retreading of barren grounds. To me, the accomplishments of the former are worth more than Berserk fans' cries of "wahh, now we only have eight other decent but mostly uninspired retellings of the same story we've read twelve times"

Uh, I'm sorry? Berserk is cool and I'm invested in its continued success after years/decades like many other people are. It's just that Berserk anime posts have been largely "this show is such a turd! it's soooo bad gahh!! I'm watching it all and I'm gonna watch the 2017 one too", which has an ironic juxtaposition with the "ugh, can't believe people can sit there and play fail aids mobage" angle. That in mind, I wanted to retort after reading about 'these drat cell phone games' again. It wasn't meant to be inflammatory—an earnest post chiming back with something they liked from the new Berserk, highlighting compelling staff that worked on it and brought potential to the show, or talking up the show for having merits in spite of its flaws, would have easily counter-owned me.

Instead, this abruptly vindictive post ??

RokuAka aka Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records is an entertaining watch thanks to the main duo and their bullying/bantering. The seiyuu are loose and silly, and these faces are the highlight of the show.

there's contrast due to their emulation of the original art style of assets:backdrop and how they handle outlines. There isn't a set standard for color and width but rather it's handled dynamically. the uncanniness i felt back in January has subsided though.
