ProfessorMurder posted:I always liked it when the show went dark. Like when they thought Niles killed himself in the bathroom, when Frasier dressed up like a killer clown and gave Martin a mild heart attack, when everyone at the dinner party thought Niles stabbed Maris to death and dumped her body in the ocean. Which episodes are those? Want to watch em later

oldpainless posted:Just watched the episode where Martin pretends to be gay and has Niles for a boyfriend and then has to take home a man that a woman frasier wants to date brought over for him in order for frasier to have alone time with her and it ends with frasier reflecting on how much his dad loves him but it should end about twenty minutes later with Martin having a load pumped into his mouth in the car to keep up the charade. I think you're confusing the characters with the actors

Teriyaki Hairpiece posted:They're just such loving babies. I've visited people and been served food or drink I didn't like and ate it and complimented it because I was a guest. The food at that place can't be so bad if it's such an institution. They aren't guests though, they're paying customers. Take some young hip friends to Olive Garden, or hell jist even mention the olive garden, and watch this behavior happen irl. Though it's also imo a sendup of the standard sitcom wisecracks and insults, which are almost a genre convention but would be extremely tedious if they were real people

You'd be surprised how few people know how to use one properly. Too many times you look under the door and see toes facing the wrong way

Frasier lost his job after radio stations became obsolete. His son is an overeducated youtuber who keeps failing to get into medical school and has to to constantly beg him for money.

Calaveron posted:Freddie would’ve been a blue collar detective who was constantly at odds with his dad and uncle's over analyzing the simplest of crimes, his grandpa the only person he could relate to So Frasier is now a sitcom / police procedural hybrid? How depressingly plausible. Though Frasier and Niles conning their way into a job profiling serial killers could be pretty great

That’s the whole joke, it’s repeatedly played for laughs, I think there’s an underwear gag. I get it, I get why the writers would think it was funny, it’s probably my only real miss in the first 8 seasons, but that episode isn’t funny (to me). I think it's pretty funny

Bluedeanie posted:I respectfully think youre allowed to talk about things that are bad in things you otherwise enjoy. I dont think it is bad when people complained that Niles and Daphne devolved almost immediately into the sitcom standard nagging-wife-and-incompetent-husband, and I also don't think it's bad that some posters dont like to watch an episode where all the men become inexplicable sex perverts and its the punchline of a joke that they dont respect a lady's desire for privacy. if you disagree, well...... i'm listening How is anyone a sex pervert in that episode? Frasier commits a social faux pas by going into Daphne's room looking for his book, then through a series of unfortunate coincidences keeps making the situation worse and worse as he tries to make it better. Also all his attempts to take a principled, modern stand against his traditional father fall flat and end up creating more trouble, such as his insistence that it was ok to go into Daphne's room because she goes in his room, or that it is unhealthy to use gifts to buy forgiveness. It's the same basic formula as most Frasier episodes. The only pervert part is probably the joke where Niles briefly thinks that Frasier has made advances on Daphne by going to her room like some sort of 18th century novel

Sir Lemming posted:I feel like that episode was one of their only attempts to really explore the relationship between Daphne and Frasier and the whole kind of weird dynamic of her living in his apartment. They didn't really bother exploring it after that, I guess because her relationship with Niles was much more interesting and relatable. Mostly she was just another person who showed up in the living room to do hijinx. They had the episode where she was banging the plumber in her room and it weirded Frasier out
