I feel like there have been more retirements in this race than any GP since the first hybrid race.

English fans just don't want to admit that the most objectively fraudulent WDC was clearly Hunt in '76.
|
# ¿ Mar 30, 2017 03:26 |
|
In truth there are basically no WDCs I'd actually classify as undeserved. 1976 is the only remotely close one. Other than that it's hypotheticals like if Hill had beaten Schumacher in 1994 which would have been moronic.

2012, too, in the sense that Alonso was clearly a better driver in a worse car, but yeah.

IIRC that specific system was less of a BOP system where you specifically try to make stronger cars weaker and weaker cars stronger, and more like a power/weight rule where you have a set rulebase where cars with x horsepower have to be y kilos heavy. but i might be talking out my rear end here.

If you can't sketch a driver's helmet design easily with a pencil then it sucks rear end. This applies to basically everyone on the grid except Bottas, Vettel, and maybe Lance Stroll.

# ¿ Apr 1, 2017 23:26 |

Also everyone should be required to use those old Simpson helmets which are demonstrably the coolest looking racing helmets ever made.

It's Peter Revson, so the correct answer is that he's advertising cosmetics.
|
# ¿ Apr 1, 2017 23:39 |

Revson was probably the last of the great "rich playboy" F1 types, though I guess you could count someone like Niki Lauda in the 80s if you wanted to. Also, Paolo Barilla, of the pasta family. He sucked rear end.

Hunt definitely had a playboy image but I don't think he came from money the way someone like Peter Revson or Wolfgang von Trips did.
