When I looked at it I was basically assuming I could get a kart in some runnable condition for under $3k in vancouver (unlikely since the CIK fixed gear engine rules were heavily changed like a year before then and Vancouver's club to my knowledge doesn't run those engines), have somebody ship it over on a ship and then flying over there with as many tools possible to run an engine I have no experience and kart I haven't seen with against world class pros. Didn't seem like it'd be a ton of fun. It would make a lot of sense if I was buying a shifter kart and I could knock a grand or two off the price and have some fun learning about a kart I'd be keeping long term but my pockets aren't that deep at the moment.

Hmm? There's no karting club in Vancouver, AFAIK.

I actually disagree. Hamilton always portrays this persona that he has so much more going on than F1 but then gets extremely catty when poo poo like Rosberg retiring after winning one championship or Nando going off to Indy happens. Me thinks the lady doeth protest too much and all he has going on is F1 and "being a celebrity" which is sustained only because he is in F1.

Yeah, he often forgets that F1 is what makes him popular. Just being Lewis Hamilton isn't enough.

We had 21 races last year and it seemed fine, why willingly lower it to 16 or 18?

I wouldn't mind one less, if it meant no summer break. I hate that stupid break...other than that, more is better :D

I think it worked for Alonso at Renault because Flavio was in charge and he made sure that the team culture evolved around Alonso.
I don't think Alonso has that ability on his own and I don't think he'll get another WDC unless he lucks into a team that it already 'working'. He couldn't make it work at Mclaren the first time around and failed at Ferrari.
Maybe the culture at Mercedes is strong enough (they can make it work despite Hamilton), but I simply don't see Alonso as a person who can help a team progress.
Going to Ferrari is going to fail miserably. (again).

Magnussen got a 3 year contract and has been performing better than Grosjean.

It's not unreasonable given Hamilton was pretty much given complete amnesty for the first 2 years. Brundle wouldn't even talk to him on the grid walks, in order not to disturb his focus.

On the live show Sky said that he did brake significantly but that wasn't unusual under the saftey car.

Wolff said he lifted 'as he did on the previous restart'. From Vettels onboard, it certainly looked like he took off and then suddenly slowed down.

I got very lucky with mine. There's just a tiny touch of rust on the rear wheel well corners.

It'll probably be worth repainting and fixing up the bodywork once I get a garage, the market has started to pick up on these things in the past year for whatever reason. I think I bought at the perfect time.

We did have money set aside initially to get the rust fixed, but blew it on a 'Rotary specialist', who spent $2k on trying to sort out a random rough running issue. Was about to give up on it, when I took it to another shop. Told them that I had a $500 dollar budget, anything beyond that it would be scrapped. They went "Oh, I doubt it'll be that much", called me 1 hour later and told me they fixed it. (Faulty O2 sensor) and it would be $75, including an oil change.

Anyways. Just be aware that once the rust starts eating it, it goes quick.

Just caught up with the race
-Apart from the the Mercedes being way ahead, it wasn't a bad race.
- Stroll didn't completely fall apart, which was good. One day, those lunges are going to cost him, though (Just ask M. Webber).
- Ricciardo was amazing. I don't like him that much, but that was good.
- I hope Alonso buggers off the Indycar for a year and then return for one last attempt. I used to be a fan, now he's just a whiny little bitch. 5 second penalties have pretty much been the standard for the last 2 seasons.
- Verstappen moved over on Magnussen in the braking zone...that was supposed to be a big no-no?
- Crofty is now worse than James Allen.
