When has there ever been a civilization with such plenty that its poorest citizens are all fat? That's sort of like the fallacy of false privation. According to a majority of studies quality of life in America continues to increase until income exceeds $60k where the delta flatlines. I think if a lot of people could have a better quality of life with little-to-no expense to others then we should make steps towards that reality.

Then you get the food, the money, and the exercise.

I'm technically on the fringes of being poor. I make 21000 a year pay 900 a month in rent work 48 hors a week and have no debt because I didn't go to collage. I also have an OK savings just in case. I cut it pretty close on my budget some months but have enough money to treat myself to a video game every once in a while and go out to a restaurant with my friends. My life isn't wonderful but I'll live.

Have you ever considered rice? pasta? chicken? Plenty of vegetables such as cabbage, potatoes and carrots are dirt cheap as well. I cannot even.

a misanthrope posted:where do you live? that poo poo is all more expensive than fast food in america Quick google-fu gave me these numbers based on average prices of food in US. Now, I don't actually eat fast food myself so I don't know the prices but I highly doubt fast food is cheaper than that. uber_stoat posted:*is extremely poor person living in urban area* Now that's a valid argument. Getting overweight because you don't have time to make food is plausible. Getting overweight because you don't have the money to buy proper food is just ridiculous.
