At the risk of sounding like a total weeb, I imagine the shinen come across more effectively in the original Japanese. I remember a good amount of the more descriptive dialogue coming close to being actually pretty good, but falling short due to a weird turn of phrase or whathaveyou. Did any of the retranslation projects ever pan out, or were they all a case of fanprojectitis?
