Could at least flip one or two, maybe.
Only two planes are required for this mission.

A two ship ground attack flight will be more then enough to passively cover for the transport planes from the non-existent air threat, with a nineteen minute window to attack the bridge (and whatever assets we can) and come back again. AWACS is superfluous, as again, our forces would be menaced with manpads at best. The escort duty is just a less-than-subtle set up for our real detail of bombing a bridge.

I am not going to run the numbers, I'm not your man for that, but you are being overzealous with your would-be assets. Keep it simple. Two planes, bombs and those AA missiles you strap on for safety's sake will go right back to the bank, unused.

We probably shouldn't sell anything, as an aside. The Saabs are hella cheap, so it's not even worth it; having another airframe of some sort sitting in the hanger is more valuable then the sub-million each.

I've got a plot-device ready in case we want to get into old/wacky stuff. But I'm not sure I want to go down that road.

WW2 Countdown's planes when? When can we buy an Akagi?

Except they aren't really cheap. They're a drag on our finances.

We get paid for performance. The Saabs have literally only landed one rocket hit in 12 total sorties. We spend tens of thousands of dollars in ammo, spares, and fuel -- and we made back a few thousand bucks.

They are literally costing us more money than they are worth.

The planes themselves were bought for a little more then a million per and we're flying them in fairly lovely conditions. In the event where we needed some cheap CAS in a controlled area to bounce some, say, fishing boats or other similar targets then hey, look at us. Flying hot garbage has its use until we have something decidedly to replace it, then it can sit mothballed somewhere.

Also incase everything gets nuked.

Why buy someone else vehicles? We'd get paid more the longer this war goes on and it's not like they don't bankroll the majority of the lithium themselves.

gently caress 'em. Get those defectors, bomb a port to encourage our Lithium to be purchased.

because the longer we are here the more planes we lose and we need ground forces to even take the mines

We have some mines as is and, again, they have funds. They're entirely capable of funding themselves. We need to be at threat to get paid, we're mercenaries.

If anything spot part of the bill for a mercenary ground group to establish relations with them or something.

Any attacks on the navy will be long-term disaster with all these pirates, they're Angola ships and will remain as such after the coup. Knocking out the port, though, is a relatively short-term and advantageous to us. They can repair it easily enough, but it'll take time.
