Put me in as Gemini, and I'll drop another vote for Tibet/India.

Also, just a personal opinion, but I think it'd be cool if we grabbed some Mirage F1s in the future.

Either the Su-25 or F/A-50 seem like good ideas, the -25s would have more A2G capability, and it'll probably be easier to scrounge cheap parts for them, while the F/A-50 will have more A2A capability (unless maybe we somehow score one of the upgraded Su-25s that can mount R-73s).

Also, no on the boat.

There any such thing as a cheap ARM

If we're lucky there might be some AGM-45s we could pick up, though they aren't that great. If we buy Su-25s we could get some of the antiradiation versions of the Kh-25.

AGM-88s are good but probably too expensive.

Wiki says that China's Su-30s can use the R-77, which would be pretty dangerous (especially to something with only short range missiles).

For the love of God and all that is holy do not buy a loving Yak-38.

I'd be cool with buying some Su-22s though, especially if they have some of the more recent Polish upgrades. Alternatively, Su-24s (were there any in there?) would be more expensive but have more load carrying capacity, and with Kh-31s they'd be solid for anti-shipping missions.

Since the Chinese are gonna throw the kitchen sink at us, we need all the poo poo we can get. Fulcrums and Floggers have air to air capability, and can do limited double duty air to ground. The Frogfoots will nicely buffer the ones we already have.

Edit: Those are the good version of the MiG-23, they can use R-73s. Don't think they can use R-27s, but they at least have R-23s, which are about the same as an AIM-7. The MiG-29s should have R-27s (along with R-73s).

It's a shame they don't model toss-bombing. With the right planes, you could do some hilarious poo poo.

quote:

The Iraqi Air Force were particularly enthusiastic users of the gargantuan FAB-9000 (9,000 kg/20,000 lb) general-purpose bomb, which skilled Tu-22 pilots could deploy with impressive accuracy, utilizing supersonic toss bombing techniques at stand-off distances and allowing the aircraft to escape retaliatory anti-aircraft fire.

Seconding not sending any of our Gripens to die, we'll need all of them to deal with any J-16s or other poo poo that might show up. Also seconding chucking everything we've got at that base.

Creating :frogout:er Heaven sounds like an amazing idea.

Also, I was thinking, that 737 Wedgetail is the biggest threat to our forces so we need to neutralize it. Was thinking something along these lines;

1. Send in goon ground forces at night to airport where 737 is parked. Include 2 or 3 pilots in the ground element.
2. Ground forces crash through airport fence in Geo Metro, take 737. Pilots fly it back to our base.
3. As a contingency plan, a small force of Phantoms screams in a low altitude with orders to paste the gently caress out of the 737 with 500 pound bombs if it isn't ours. If it is, they drop them on the aircraft parking and get the gently caress out.
4. Scramble all our Gripens and other A2A poo poo to escort the 737 back to base.
5. Gee Goons, how come Yooper lets you have 2 AWACS?

Jets aren't a turn the key and off you go sort of thing. A 737 would take, at best, 15 minutes to go from cold start to taking off, and that's assuming we don't need to gas them up before they go. It isn't feasable.

Random CMANO mechanical question; how feasible is it to update the loadouts/sensors of aircraft in the database. Was thinking that if we ever get a deal on a museum buy of F-101s or some other earlier stuff it would be could to throw a couple mil at them to upgrade them to use modern weapons and sensors, but I'm not sure if that's feasible in CMANO.

If we get a firm location of the emitter, could we do this with the Sperwers? https://www.wired.com/2017/04/bad-news-now-militants-using-drones-projectiles/

In any case, using the Sperwers as decoys in a situation like this seems like a good idea. We could at least use them to get the radar to start emitting.

LostCosmonaut

Yo, can we add the B-1R to the price list (as an upgrade for any B-1s purchased)?

quote:

The B-1R was a proposed upgrade of existing B-1B aircraft.[147] The B-1R (R for "regional") would be fitted with advanced radars, air-to-air missiles, and new Pratt & Whitney F119 engines. This variant would have a top speed of Mach 2.2, but with 20% shorter range.[148]
Existing external hardpoints would be modified to allow multiple conventional weapons to be carried, increasing overall loadout. For air-to-air defense, an active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar would be added and some existing hardpoints modified to carry air-to-air missiles. If needed the B-1R could escape from unfavorable air-to-air encounters with its Mach 2+ speed. Few aircraft are capable of sustained speeds over Mach 2.[147]

We're already getting 90 mil per mission from the lithium mines, plus whatever we get in mission payouts. Those diamonds aren't worth screwing over our reputation.

Edit: Can we send someone out there to grab the diamonds, then just refuse to leave Angola? We already hosed up the dictator's air force and ground elements, what's he going to do?
