I'm kind of shocked that they didn't film both halves of this new version at the same time, and are instead waiting.

I haven't read it but I am working through the audiobook and at almost 11 hours in the adults still haven't made it back to Derry in the and kids haven't even all gotten together as a group yet. It's definitely a slow burn

Steven Weber is awesome though.

For me, the most amazing thing about Tim Curry's performance, is I don't see Tim Curry. We've all seen performances of actors in make-up/prosthetics, and you can easily recognize the actor beneath it, whether is physical or vocally, but I can't see Curry.

Having just finished reading the book again, I'm a little sad they're doing the same thing as the miniseries by splitting the plots; having the kids' and adults' stories converge at the conclusion is so amazingly tense.

Also holy poo poo is the part where they start forgetting each other again sad :(

The only problem I can see with doing like the book is where would they end the first film?

The problem with making the new Pennywise look like Curry's Pennywise, is all that it would do is invite even more comparisons to Curry's.

I was gifted a membership to the Stephen King Library when I was very young (prob too young; I remember receiving and reading IT when I was 10). Every month or so, I'd get a hardcover first edition in the mail, with that cool rear end cover art. I loved that poo poo, best Christmas present I ever got. Even though I don't really read King anymore, I kept them all. I'll never forget the commercial.

I may not be remembering it correctly, but I thought in the mini-series, It's powers are better defined. There is a clear distinction between scenes where It is just screwing with the kids and trying to scare them, and moments where the kids are in actual mortal danger. In the mini-series you are safe as long as you avoid the sewers, whereas in this movie Pennywise can go anywhere and do anything pretty much.

No, in the mini Pennywise can go anywhere to kill (It kills the guard at the asylum to free Bowers). It just likes loving with the Losers.

Having watched this, I think I prefer the original (part one) to this. While this was better shot, I felt like the kids in the TV movie were better developed characters, while this one focused more on Bill and Bev at the expense of the others. Bowers was particularly short changed.

Also didn't care for the cliched "gang stops being friends, then reunites" bit. Felt the original version in the book, where the kids all agree that they have to kill IT, in together, was a far more powerful moment.

Was also underwhelmed by Pennywise. It felt like a one-note performance.
